Since Thunderbird version 154 the add-on Cardbook doesn't synchronize correctly the birthday entries with calendar, neither version 106.2 nor 106.3 - with every start of Thunderbird the birthday entries are added instead of renewed.
Every reference to this bug is oppressed by the responsibles - very sad!

Sadly not compatible with the latest release of Thunderbird v1.55.

Je découvre avec stupeur que Cardbook est devenu incompatible avec Thunderbird 155.0. C'est inacceptable de mettre les utilisateurs devant le fait accompli. Tous mes contacts sont sur Cardbook. Comment je fais !!
Je ne sais pas comment revenir en arrière pour installer une version plus ancienne de Thunderbird. Quelle est la solution ???

Love Cardbook sooo much. But it's not compatible with V155. And you don't find out until the automatic upgrade occurs and it just gets disabled and you can't send emails...sigh... How I got around it:
Menu ≡ → Settings [Scroll to Updates] Set to “Check for updates but let me choose whether to install them”.
Go to troubleshooting info, open your profile folder.
Shut down TBird.
Backup your profile folder (safety first),
Download 153 ESR from https://archive.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/releases/
Install it.
In your profile directory, look for any file called compatibility.ini. rename it to compatibility_old.ini. Restart TBird.

I agree with Alan. CardBook is a exceptional address book except when it is suddenly disabled by a Thunderbird update, which has happened twice this year. I don't know how much effort it is to keep CardBook compatible, and Philippe has been supporting it for a long time. If it is time to retire CardBook, I hope he will let us know.

I've been using Cardbook for many years and it is brilliant. I didn't realise how dependent I am on it until Thunderbird was just automatically updated to V155 and Cardbook became disabled. It seems that Cardbook will need a modification to restore compatibility. Is that likely to happen soon?
Your suggested of using Thunderbird 153 ESR instead would require me to create a new profile, which will be a major task since I monitor 6 email addresses and make extensive use of message filters, all of which would have to be re-created.

Bonjour Philippe,
I have been using CardBook for several years now and would not be able to live without it. Currently running 106.2 on TB 152.0.1, Win11 25H2.
In the past month or two, not sure when, I started having an issue with the Notes tab. Whenever I open a contact card and switch to the Notes tab, the content of the note is only 1-line high. The first time that happened I thought I had lost the content of the note.
But I then noticed I could drag the bottom right corner of the frame and expand the note vertically. But I have to do this every single time I open the Notes tab in a contact. Any idea how to address this? Known bug?

Great add-on, actually i couldn't work without.
But now it does not work with TB 150.xx - any idea when this will be solved?!

I can only imagine all the work that went into making this extension work, allowing me to use the vCard standard (a feature that should be included in Thunderbird).

Did not work / cannot add / create new contacts in T-Bird V 140.0. useless add on. Used to work in the past but - something is no longer functioning. It did not import anything for some strange reason on a brand new install / new profile. There's something wrong with his extension in 2026.

Didn't do a thing. No contacts were imported upon restarting despite their existence in Thunderbird. Would have been nice.

I've been using it for years now.
Today I had to revert from CardBook 103.4 to
CardBook 103.3. Otherwise the Contact list (either in address books or in categories) doesn't display (blank area instead with the search icon)
