I really like the extension, but it appears to be broken in TB57.0b1. I raised a support topic as instructed here, but it didn't receive any attention. I'd hope the extension will be updated for TB57, but right now it looks like it's dead.

Exactly what I needed. With a single click all my trash can is empty! Thanks!

This add-on also compact all emptied Junk and Trash files in Thunderbird folder. If not, they can reach hundred of MB. To obtain this don't forget to cross "Also compact emptied folders" in the Empty 'em Options.

I often have to hit the empty 'em button 2 or 3 times before it will do what it says. Other than that, it seems to work
Please note that folders related to IMAP accounts are processed asynchronously. This might explain why you perceive the button as not responding.

Works GREAT :) (TB version 38.1.0)
I also have custom folders within my inbox (forum posts, mailing list etc.)
would it be possible to add them to Empty em..?? and empty them automatically ....

Works perfectly with 31.6.0. I have 6 mail accounts and it deletes all junk and spam in seconds. Thank you.

Adds "EMPTY TRASH" to EVERY folder context menu. I don't see the benefit of this. If you want to empty trash, just go over there and empty it. Why have a context menu on folder DOG to empty the TRASH folder???? A context menu should apply to the context...hence the name. If I right click the DOG folder and select "empty" I want DOG emptied, not the TRASH folder. Maybe the thing does not work right for me, but that is what is does.

Looks much better now! Couple of minor issues: It reports NaN for the server count, and it isn't actually deleting anything anymore.
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.80).There have been some changes in the Thunderbird API which broke compatibility with TB19 and older. I've addressed the changes in a new pre-release if you want to try:

Thank you very much, it is great that I now can delete my junk with just one click.
Just one request: Would it be possible to adjust the button text? It kind of annoys me, that there is "Empty Junk & Trash" written, although I only empty my junk... (I know I'm very perfectionist :) )

Awesome add-on. Only suggestion—make a slightly bigger icon for the toolbar. I know this is a picky suggestion, but I'm an artist and it would be slick to have all my toolbar buttons the same size.

Not working in 7.0.1. Still refuses to empty g-mail trash. It pops up and says it dumped the trash on 2 servers, but it doesn't. I'm specifically interested in emptying the g-mail trash since TB won't remove the read mail from the server. Thanks for the valiant effort, but it ain't working for me.

This worked for me on TB5 once I had changed the options to override the confirmation dialogue
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.785).Thanks Eric. Your input helped me fix a bug in the add-on that potentially caused failure indicated in the previous two comments.

It won't work with version 5.0
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.785).Hi Uinsin42, could you please report this at http://groups.google.com/group/empty-em-support ? Especially the types of accounts in your profile, and the output in 'Tools -> Error Console' when you click 'Empty all Junk and Trash folders' button. You can turn on verbose logging in Empty 'em preferences.
Thanks,
Mahesh.
