Version 5.0.2
NOTE: The rewrite of Xpunge to make it compatible with TB 128 was done by John Bieling from the Thunderbird team.
Xpunge 5.0.2 fixes a bug related to exchange accounts accessed via the Owl add-on. This bug was preventing Xpunge from emptying the trash or compacting the folders of other accounts, if they were configured to come after exchange accounts in the MultiXpunge/Timer preferences. NOTE: There are mixed reports about whether emptying the trash/junk of exchange accounts works. And the compacting of exchange accounts/folders does not work.
Since version 5.0.0, Xpunge uses the WebExtension local storage and performs a migration of the legacy (i.e. version 4.0.2 or older) Xpunge preferences to this storage system.
If you want to Xpunge a single account via the "Call Xpunge Now" menu option, you need to select the top-level account, it cannot be any subfolder like in previous versions. The "Call Xpunge Now" option is also available in the context (i.e. right-click) menu of any top-level account.
Please note that in this version, the Xpunge Preferences page is available through the wrench icon in the Extensions tab of the Add-ons Manager (accessible through the "Add-ons and Themes" menu entry).

Version 5.0.1
NOTE: The rewrite of Xpunge to make it compatible with TB 128 was done by John Bieling from the Thunderbird team.
Xpunge 5.0.1 fixes a bug for emptying the trash of & compacting POP3 accounts. This bug was also preventing Xpunge from emptying the trash or compacting the folders of other accounts, if they were configured to come after POP3 accounts in the MultiXpunge/Timer preferences.
NOTE: There is still an issue related to Exchange/Office365 accounts accessed via the Owl add-on. Emptying the trash or compacting the folders of such accounts does not work. And if you have emptying the trash of such an account enabled in the preferences, it prevents Xpunge from emptying the trash or compacting the folders of other accounts. As a workaround, you can remove such accounts from the MultiXpunge/Timer preferences. And use Thunderbird's menu actions to empty the trash and compact the folders of such accounts.

Version 3.0.0
Xpunge 3.0.0 makes it compatible with Thunderbird 91. It is also compatible with Thunderbird 102.
Some users are making claims that Xpunge does not work on Thunderbird 91 at all. That is not true, Xpunge 3.0.0 is already being used on Thunderbird 91 by thousands of users. If you have an issue with Xpunge, please send me an email using the support email link, and I will do my best to help you troubleshoot.
Please note that in this version, the options (preferences) page of Xpunge is available through the wrench icon in the Extensions tab of the Add-ons Manager (accessible through the "Add-ons and Themes" menu entry).
ATTENTION: Some users have reported an issue in Thunderbird 102, where email accounts are "forgotten" in the preferences of "MultiXpunge", so they are no longer being compacted or their trash/junk emptied. After upgrading to Thunderbird 102, please double check your current setup in all tabs of the preferences page of Xpunge. If your accounts/folders are still not processed by Xpunge, try reconfiguring Xpunge, by removing all your accounts/folders from the setup of Xpunge and adding them again.
ATTENTION: Some users have reported an issue in Thunderbird 91, where they install Xpunge 3.0.0 but MultiXpunge still does not work, with an error about "fixIterator" appearing in the Error Console. This is an issue with Thunderbird, not with Xpunge. The same users have reported that disabling and enabling Xpunge 3.0.0 again seems to solve the issue. So you might want to give it a try, if you have the same problem.

Version 2.1.0
Xpunge 2.1.0 is an attempt to quickly get Xpunge running in Thunderbird 78. Support for legacy extensions like Xpunge was removed in Thunderbird 78, which means that Xpunge has to be re-written as a MailExtension. While I am working on this re-write, I have made version 2.1.0 available so users can continue to work with Xpunge.
Due to limitations imposed by MailExtensions, Xpunge can only add one button in Thunderbird. So one of the two buttons provided by Xpunge in previous versions (called "Xpunge") is not available in version 2.1.0. You can invoke the functionality that used to be offered by that button through a menu entry: Tools --> Xpunge --> Xpunge --> Call Xpunge Now. The "MultiXpunge" button is still available.
Please note that in this version, the options (preferences) page of Xpunge is available through the "Tools --> Add-on Options --> Xpunge" menu entry.

Version 0.7
This release contains changes to make Xpunge compatible with Thunderbird 60. Version 0.7 of Xpunge is compatible with Thunderbird 60 and above. For older versions of Thunderbird, please download an older version of Xpunge.
The option to open the preferences page of Xpunge in a dialog has been removed from the "Xpunge" sub-menu under the "Tools" menu. This is because the preferences page now opens in a tab and Thunderbird also adds it's own sub-menu (called "Add-on references") under the "Tool" menu, which contains a menu item to access Xpunge's preferences page.
