Great extension. Hoping it will be updated to work with Quantum or i'll be forced to move to Chrome

Great extension - extremely useful to those who are learning Cantonese. A real shame that it is not compatible with the new version of Firefox (Firefox Quantum). I wished it would be updated!

This is a great addon. I wish it could read in further version. Anyway, anyone know a Text to speech engine for Cantonese ?

An excellent job. The addon is extremely useful both for novice and for native speakers (there are many words in the language that I don't know how to pronounce properly).
For future enhancement, think about adding audio pronunciation, like clicking a button in the popup window to activate an audio file. This would help those who may have difficulty distinguishing between, e.g., "pa1", "pa2" or "pa6". Such a feature is available in the web site http://humanum.arts.cuhk.edu.hk/Lexis/Canton2/.
It may take some effort to make this wish a reality. In the meantime, a poor man's version (this feature itself has its own uses) is to list 4 or 5 other characters that have the same sound.

Perakun had stopped working for some reason. Thankfully this seems to do the job. Many thanks.

"cantofish cannot save clipboard word to file
i would like to use cantofish as memo pad for unknown word as suggested by Morgo. but when i try this, always error happen because of unreconised path. i try ~/cantoneseword.txt or just cantoneseword.txt all fail.

I have the solution...
The file name should be something along the lines of: "C:\Documents and Settings\YourUserNamel\Desktop\test.txt"
That seemed to work for me. And I'm now pressing S very happily, adding to my test file, and then importing into Anki and the Mandarin card template.
This is a great tool for me. I return to China in August for three years of working on climate change issues. So this is going to be a big help as I start to ramp up my Mandarin skills again.
Thanks for the work on this John. And thanks for the suggestion Morgo of saving files that can be picked up by Anki.
Happy studying everyone!

Works very well, but now I have upgraded to Thinderbird 3.0.4, it will not install. Is there a work around or new version imminent?

Wow...I am SO glad to have this!
Tip for people studying using the Anki software. Set up the "Clipboard/Save" section of CantoFish as a new text file somewhere on your computer (eg: "CantoneseWords.txt"). Then, when using CantoFish, and hovering over a word you don't know, press "S" to save the word to the clipboard text file. Later, IMPORT the text file words into Anki and study them! This way you can read stuff on the fly using CantoFish, but also actually learn the words you didn't know later!

Nice! Now with Mandarin Pinyin, it renders Chinese Perapera-kun obsolete. Moreover, this has always worked for me, the dictionary doesn't have as many weird definitions as Perapera-kun, and its dictionary is huge in comparison!

It is a dream like tool ... !!!
If only I had it back in 1996 when I lived in Hong Kong for 5 years and inspite of lack of such a wonderfull tool as CantoFish still have learned very fluent Cantonese ...but reading online now is so fluent and brings my Hong Kong memories back...
Thank you...
I was wondering if a hotkey shortcut that one could configure would be possible to switch CantoFish on and off when used together with Chinese Pera-Kun because some of my Mandarin reading skills are better so checking back and forth so far is only possible with the right mouse click and switching it without a shortcut ...

Works beautifully, thanks. Not many languages can boast a pop-up translator, great to see Cantonese with one
