Review for Insert Link from Local File by John
Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Very good. Works for me with the edit from lima91150's suggestion. I needed in house email to allow links to local network files.
I had to use the // AEvent.preventDefault(); trick. There are two (2) places where it exisits in the xpi file.
To make the change you must first close Thunderbird, or you will get access denied when you try to update the archive with your changes.
If you didn't know how, just right-click the file (in my case it was in C:\Users\Tech\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\myprofile\extensions) use 7zip (or other zip program) to open the archive (not extract) then just keep clicking to open folders and files until you get into the jar file, open the file for editing, make your changes (remember there are two of them to change) then save and close out. You will be asked if you want to update the archive.
To create your own collections, you must have a Mozilla Add-ons account.
