Hello Gunter
TB : 128.2.3esr (64-bit) nebula
CStC : 3.32 Last Updated 26 September 2024 .

It seems its not working ? ( it used to for a long time)
I have disable all other add-on except
'provider for google calendar' to check for incompatibility but not effect and always go by default to sent ?

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.32).

This bug was introduced in version 3.32 (sorry) and fixed in version 3.34. It only happens with local folders, containing spaces or non-ASCII characters in their name.

Excellent work -- thanks!

I'd like to automate some things, e.g. a shortcut for setting "No copy"

Do you have suggestions for how to do this, e.g. by using tbkeys?

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.27).

In the settings of the add-on you can activate 'show two icons'. One of the icons is 'Send with no copy'. Also in the setting, you can define some shortcuts.

Great add on. I use it for every email. I docked it one star because if one chooses "no copy" it freezes. Even if I don't want a copy, say when forwarding an email so I don't need a second copy, I have to send a copy somewhere. Anyway great add on!

I realized this functionality would be great and sure enough - there is an add-on for that. And it has much more options than I could have thought. Working great and is exactly the reason to use Thunderbird. Great work!

I have latest version (as of this date) of Thunderbird (91.9.0) 64-bit. This extension is one of the most important add-ons and still works great with this version!

This add-on can ask you what folder to save/move your current email (the one you just finished typing) to when you press send. User interface is perfect. Thanks to Günter Gersdorf for creating and continuing it!

Question:

Has anyone figured out how to configure the Favorites sub-menu yet?

I see that when you are writing a new message, and you click on the Thunderbird drop down menu 'Message', you can select 'Move To' or 'Copy To', and you can see the Recent and Favorites there, also.

I would like to set Recent Items to last longer, and to be able to customize Favorites.

Thanks again!

Edit: I just saw that you have maintained this since 2006, with latest (as of now) update 24.4.2022 with ver 3.15! Legend!!!
I actually have been using it for most of that time.

Edit 2: (I guess I can't reply to your reply, so I have to put my reply here.) That was easy! It would also be nice to be able to 'cancel' sending an email from your add-on's UI, as well. Thanks so much!

Just rightclick on a folder in the folderlist and select 'Favorite Folder'

One of the most amazing plugins for Thunderbird I know.

I just upgraded from "legacy" Thunderbird to version 91.8.0 as most plugins are now available, but unfortunately I have a problem with Copy Sent to Current:
Whatever I do, the "select on send" option does not show up in the account settings.
The extension is enabled for all my email accounts.
If someone has the answer to that problem I will love it!

Jeff

This and all other options has been moved from the account settings to the settings of the addon.

This is by far my favorite add-on. It helps keep my email organized and efficient.

The only issue I now have is with creating new templates. I select a mailbox to copy to when creating the template and then save. When I pull up the template to use it, the Copy To: field is the template folder the template is stored in, not the folder I selected when the template was created. This used to work just fine and seems to be a recent development with the last update.

This is an excellent replacement for the discontinued "Send & File" add-on. One additional feature would be great: remove the attachments from the copy of the email.

Great addon that I rely on heavily, so thanks for the work!

I just have the same issue/request as mentioned in Michal's review from Jan. 22: I am using TB's unified Inbox, which will use the default account when composing a new email (or the account an email arrived in when replying). I can then change which identity and account to actually send from via the "From:" dropdown, but copysent2current does not take that selection into account and will always copy the mail to the original default.

It would be great if the "From:" selection could be honored in deciding which folder to copy into. I have "Choose target folder after sending" selected, but still defaults to the original target, not what the "From:" would dictate. This used to work in versions before TB 78.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.10).

Please contact me by email. I have some questions concerning this issue.

I used this great add-on up to TB 68, then waited with upgrading to TB 78 until thre was a compatible version for it as I could not imagine living without it any more. Now I saw the new version 3 for TB 78 so I finally could upgrade.
All seems to work fine except one issue: I have several accounts, all with their own folder structure including Sent and Trash folders. I need the add-on to store copy always in the selected folder inside of the particular account that I am sending the message from. This works OK if I open the message compose window already from within the required account. Then this account is already preselected in the "From" field of the new message and all works well. However sometimes I open the message compose window from another account and only after opening it I realize I need to change the "From" account which I can easily do in the pull-down menu in the From row. BUT the add-on seems not to follow this change which results in the message being stored in Sent/Trash folder of a wrong account than the one that has been finally used for sending the message out.
Would be great if this could be fixed.
Thanks for this excellent tool anyway!!!

An absolute must-have for serious email management. Thank you Günter.

I am on TB 78.6.1with version 3.7 of the add-on. I no longer see a history of recently used folders, like I used to have in TB 68. I even looked for the setting that used to specify how many folders to have in the history but could not find it. Am I missing something or did the history list feature disappear with the TB 78 update.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.7).  This user has a previous review of this add-on.

The recently used folders are now managed by thunderbird and are available in the 'Recent' submenu. Additionally there is now a 'Favorites' submenu available.

Extremely useful add-on, thanks a lot for it, Günter.
If it were possible, for me it would be very useful to show the whole folder path in the 'Recent' pane, as I have many folders, some with the same name, as 'leaves' of higher folders in the hierarchy. I suppose that just the name for the folder is OK for most users, but for me it would be better the long path name even though the 'Recent' pane had to be much wider.
Regardless of this 'wish', the add-on is a must for seriously managing the email.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.7).

The 'Recent' (and 'Favorites') panes are standard Thunderbird functions. They are identical to the panes which are shown when you select 'Move To' or 'Copy To'. I have no control of what is shown there. Probably there is a global preference which changes what is shown but you have to search for it elsewhere.

I'm very happy with this add-on, but the latest update fooled me a bit. The two new buttons Send (No Copy) and (Copy to sent) are fine, but I'm missing a third: Send(Copy to current)

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.3).

The current folder is preselected as default (that's why the add-on is called 'Copy Sent to Current). Just use the standard send button!

Hello Günter,
Thanks for your add on, but it doesn't seem to work in my version -Mac 78.5.0. Am I right in thinking that your add on doesn't work in 78? It's a pity as it is an extremely useful feature. I could go back to an older version I suppose - do you know how far back I would have to go? Best, Michael

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.3).

Version 3.x is designed to run on TB78. I'm not aware of any problems on Mac. Please contact me by email.

Hi.
Thanks Günter for fast and precise answer to Cry-Pisto. Unfortunately, I also found this only feature extremely useful ("choose target folder after sending" or "Sélectionner lors de l'envoi" for froggies like me).
So useful that I intend to roll back to my previous set. I can roll back to TB 68.X (have to check db compatibility first, can manage this) but my question is:
is there a way to get a previous version of Copy Sent To Current (the convenient one for 68.X) ?
Thank you anyway for your great job somehow frustrating.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.2).

Older versions are available from this website (choose 'previous versions' or whatever it is in you language) or go to my website (choose 'Add-on homepage')
Be sure to use the latest 2.x version.
