This is a badly needed add-on that will make my life easier. I like to used different text snippets at the beginning or end of my emails, depending on the context of the subject. At first I noticed when I used one of the snippets, it malformed my regular email signature, so I had to go in and fix the HTML on that signature. I only have two wants. The biggest complaint I'd have is that the text snippets list is displayed as the content. It would make it a lot easier to find the snippets if they could be named or grouped instead of displaying the content which takes up too much room. The other complaint is the location of the icon. It's inconvenient. It should be in at the start of the WRITE window instead of way off to the top right. Quicktext Extension does a much better job of that but Quicktext is annoying because it uses templates and changes the subject line etc. so StandardTexter is much more useful. I only have a couple of snippets entered so far and wonder how I'll be able to keep track of them all. I'd also prefer it if it would display only the snippets for the specifice email address I'm sending from. With different snippets all merged into one data set, I can see that it will become difficult to find the ones I want, easily. I think it holds 99, A drop down selectory by account would be very helpful also. A search box might be an alternative but not as good.

Many thanks for the detailed and constructive review.
Would it help if the display of the text snippets could be limited to a certain length?

P.S.
You can determine the position of the icon yourself: in the write window (or compose window, which is how Thunderbird names it), right click in the toolbar, then choose "Customize...", then you can drag and drop the icon into the position you want to have it.
