It is great that this add-on works again after a long period where development seemed to have stalled. It is perfect for my needs. With an inbox containing thousands of emails (sloppiness on my part), it is great to be able to mark expiry on emails on arrival and count on them to disappear automatically when they are no longer relevant.

Is this extension abandoned? It would be great to get it updated to current Thunderbird versions.

Does not seem to work with Thunderbird 3.1.7 in Ubuntu 10.04 64bit.

This is a great idea. However, it doesn't seem to work on my computer. I am running Thunderbird 2.0.0.21 in Ubuntu.
It seems to slow down Thunderbird quite a bit, but maybe that's because of the close to 1.000 emails in my inbox? After restarting Thunderbird, all the classifications of my emails are gone and I have to start the classification over. It doesn't seem to classify new messages; it only works when I tell it to classify the entire inbox.
