Great...thank you. I just updated to 3.1 from 2.x and miss not being able to search for a sender or subject. This is great help. I finally learned in conjunction with this that the "Filter messages by: Sender Recipients Subject Body" are buttons that are either on or off (3.11). They were all on by default and was getting way too many hits when using this add-on. Now that I am educated and just have "Sender" or "Subject" highlighted this is really great. It would be great if this would de-activate the inappropriate filters too when you click it. I find I have to click the subject or sender filter again to get the proper results ....but I can live with that.
