Works great for those Cablevision customers whose email server is Optimum's Optonline.net. I don't automatically download messages when I first start TB because at times I just want to get to other already downloaded messages FAST. This add-on gives me the control I want when I am ready to retrieve new email on the Optonline server. This is the only TB Add-On that does this within TB. THANKS! Also recommend "New Mail Attention" as a secondary add-on to this one which shows notification on Windows Desktop Taskbar (i.e., Windows 7 & 8) but not in TB if you auto-hide Windows taskbar like I do. (auto-hide gives more screen real estate to Win apps).

With TBBiff installed in both FF24 and TB24, and both running, the TBBiff tray icon in FF tray constantly shows that TB is off-line. Clicking on the off-line tray icon showing in FF does bring up TB display, but the off-line icon remains. Path to TB is correct.

We have Thunderbird running on a computer. The profile has several different POP3 accounts in it. This add-on is helpful to let users know on their computer that they have new mail so we don't have to keep running to the mail server to check it.
But one question I have is can the client be configured to only check certain POP3 accounts on the server? I get new mail alerts on my computer for any new mail in any account, which I don't want. It would be nice if I could be alerted only when my POP3 account has a new message.
Hello and thanks. I have discovered a way to handle your request. It will come out in a future version. If you will contact me via (click my name on this page) I will be happy to provide you a pre-release of this feature.

it works but i have to open both firefox and thunderbird.
if i open thunderbird, the thunderbird itself can automatic check for new mail every x minutes and 'notify' me.
if i open just firefox... the plugin says it is offline mode.
so.. why i have to use this plugin while it must open both program.
sorry, i will re-rate because of this is my fault.
i don't know to be good or bad then i re-rate it to 3 (middle).
Sorry you are disappointed in what this addon does/does not do. However, the description clearly states what the addon is designed and able to do. It clearly states that TB must be running.for the mechanism to work. So you really ought to read the description and then decide if you should bother with trying an addon. That way you won't be disappointed in the future by expecting things the addon will not and cannot deliver.

Seems like quite a useful addon. The only thing that's stopping me from using it is the ability to move it to another taskbar. I like my addon buttons not in the addon bar, and I can't move it!
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.3.0.1-signed.1-signed).Please email me to help clarify your issue. Click on my name on the addon's page here and you can email me directly. First, are you talking about the TB side or the FF side of this (I presume the latter but am not sure).? I also have other questions. So let me know. Thanks

It worked right away, but:
- the animated gif is so small that one barely notice it
- I would have preferred the number of new emails to been shown. Otherwise I cannot see if anything new has came in.

Works fine, but just one annoyance. The tooltip should read, "No new mail," not "T-Bird Biff: No new mail." Fix the tooltip for the fifth star.

This page indicates that the current version of this add-on is 2.2.0. But, the listed support site says that the current version is 2.1.9? Which is correct? I like this add-on, but don't want to upgrade until I know version 2.2.0 is safe/legit.
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.2.0).Sorry Fred, I just noticed this myself and have updated the addon's website. For future reference, I tend to wait until the new version is officially released here and then update the addon's website. But sometimes I forget step two in that process. Your patience is appreciated.

I like this extension, but I'm kind of confused at how you went about it. Wouldn't it make more sense for Thunderbird to choose a slave client (in my case Firefox)? Whenever Thunderbird received new mail, it could push the notification to Firefox, instead of Firefox polling Thunderbird constantly at an arbitrary interval. If Thunderbird did all the heavy lifting then the notification in Firefox would be instantaneous.
Also, I hope you plan to update this for Firefox 4, as I can't seem to get it to work.
I have recently downloaded the beta version of Firefox 4.x. Not only do I not like what I see for personal use, but I also find that there is need for significant re-write of this addon making it very difficult to preserve backwards compatibility. For these reasons, at this time, users should NOT count on having this addon updated for Firefox 4. My apologies.

I would like to see in the continuation of the addon - the program icon in the tray indicator of new messages! You look in the tray and no additional manipulation on the icon you see the number of new messages. thx

Hello, will this add-on ever work with TB 3 in Kubuntu 10.04? I don't sit at the computer all the time, and I miss very much the new mail icon appearing in TB2 / Kubuntu 9.10 (I forgot the name of the extension, which I had to deinstall after the upgrade).
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.1.9).Rather than post here. There is a support website for this addon and an email address as well. As to problems on Linux, I will be happy to try and ascertain the source of your difficulties. But lacking that platform for testing, I will have to ask you for help in characterizing the problem and testing possible solutions. Thanks

Doesn't do anything under Kubuntu 10.04 / Thunderbird 3.0.4: the impractical built-in tray popup is still displayed when new mail arrives.
