Markdown Here Revival lets you write email in Markdown and render it (make it pretty!) before sending.
Very easy to use: 1. Write your email in Markdown in the left pane. 2. See your email as it will be sent in the right pane. 3. Send it!
Originally forked from Markdown Here to support modern Thunderbird versions, Markdown Here Revival is a near total rewrite of the original to add live preview support.
Permissions explanation: This addon makes use of the "experiments" API, resulting in the permissions prompt requesting "unrestricted access". This is the case with any Thunderbird addon that uses the experiments API. This is how MDHR modifies Thunderbird's compose window to add the live preview.
Version Information
Version 4.0.19
602.8 KiB
Works with
Thunderbird 140.0 - 157.*
Requirements - Requires Thunderbird 140esr or later; supports up to Thunderbird 157. - This is the last series supporting Thunderbird versions older than 153esr. Starting with 4.1.0, Thunderbird 153 or later will be required.
New - Optional rendering of ```csv / ```tsv fenced code blocks as tables (off by default, delimiter auto-detected). - The preview pane width now scales with the compose window (the former fixed width remains available as an option).
Fixed - Markdown Here Revival did not work with Thunderbird 148 and later. - Large messages could be sent as raw Markdown after a timeout: rendering is much faster, and if conversion still fails you are asked before sending. - Markdown source copies accumulated in long reply chains, making messages grow with every reply. - The "Start composer in markdown mode" option could reset itself, and toggling the preview in one window could change the default for all future windows. - The compose preview stopped working after disabling and re-enabling the add-on. - The preview pane could get stuck in plain text compose windows. - False "forgot to render" warning when sending with the preview active. - Messages starting with a YAML front matter block were garbled; the block is now ignored. - The Dracula syntax highlighting theme was missing from the options. - The translation tool (Locale Maker) saved invalid files.
Privacy and security - Removed the unused "tabs", "accountsRead" and "downloads" permissions. - No more markup insertion through innerHTML/srcdoc. - Plain text conversion uses Thunderbird's built-in converter; the bundled degausser library was removed, and TeXZilla is shipped as an unmodified local package.
Some add-ons ask for permission to perform certain functions (example: a tab management add-on will ask permission to access your browser’s tab system).
Since you’re in control of your Thunderbird, the choice to grant or deny these requests is yours. Accepting permissions does not inherently compromise your browser’s performance or security, but in some rare cases risk may be involved.
