Jennova, we have corresponded on this before. Your app does not work on my release of Thunderbird 115.16.0 because the fields that you work with do not exist in my version. I need 'from' and you offer only 'sender. Last year you advised me to wait for an update. Now I know that you have released 1.6.2 and 1.6.6 all very good but these require Thunderbird 128. After a lot of time spent, I discover that 128 will not be released until March. I don't know therefore where you obtained your 128 fro m but even for a complete novice like me it is obvious that 1.6.2 and 1.6.6 cannot be fully tested. there seem surprisingly to be no other options than your app but I run a charity and for our purposes, this is a bad situation.

Adrian,
I understand your frustration, but here’s the situation: you’re using Ubuntu, and software updates on Ubuntu come through Canonical’s official repositories. These repositories don’t always provide the latest versions of software immediately, as they prioritize stability. This is why Thunderbird 128 isn’t available for you yet.

You mentioned being a novice and not liking to use the command line much, but if you absolutely want to stay up-to-date with the latest software versions, you’ll unfortunately need to go down that route. This involves adding additional repositories (like PPAs) or manually downloading versions, which can be technical and risky if you’re not comfortable with such tasks.

The simplest and safest solution for you would be to wait for Canonical to update Thunderbird in their official repositories. Until then, unfortunately, you won’t be able to use the latest version.

In summary: if you want to keep things simple and avoid technical complications, wait for the update via Ubuntu. Otherwise, you’ll need to explore more technical options, but that might not be ideal for you.
