My Reviews
bitlyFF URL Shortener
Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Just what I was looking for, and it supports my 4 favorite (the best, IMHO) URL shorteners. It's as if I knew how to create this extension myself.
Remove Duplicate Messages
Rated 2 out of 5 stars
I installed this version of Remove Duplicates at home, by mistake, after using Remove Duplicates (Alternate) at the office.
I went back to the Alternate, when I found this didn't work as well. For one thing, this extension will only put the dupes in the Trash. It does not offer the option to delete the dupes permanently.
Because of a complex setup between two POP mail accounts, two locations, blind copies back and forth and several complex T-bird rules, I often have to retrieve messages which were mis-sorted to the Trash.
With this extension I never knew if the messages I found in the Trash were those I needed to retrieve or those I had previously de-duped.
Now that I'm using the Alternate version, everything works as well at home as at the office.
Remove Duplicate Messages

I have used this as well as the other "Remove Duplicates" and like this much better.
The other one does not have the option to permanently delete the dupes. When I would find messages in the Trash, I was often not sure whether they had been deleted intentionally. To be sure, I had to waste time moving them back to the original folder and de-duping again, then deleting them from the Trash.
With this extension, I simply choose to delete them permanently the first time and I need never wonder about that.
Lightning
Rated 2 out of 5 stars
Do not like the waste of screen space below my folders, which used to be utilized by the calendar. I don't want to have to lose the mail view, just to see my calendar. If I wanted that, I'd already be using Sunbird, in a separate window.
Even on a wide-screen at 1440x900, the new 'Today' pane takes way too much room from the message list, especially since I use the Show Address add-on so I can see the real sender when sifting out spam.
My only option is to widen the T-bird window and cover up 3 vertical rows of shortcuts on my desktop that I use all the time, or go back to the previous version. Unfortunately, I don't see any option in the Update Notifier add-on to ignore Lightning updates. I'm hoping the developers give us back the option to keep the old display. HINT HINT
