This is a great extension. I often encountered my emails ending up in the outbox for unknown reasons. Particularly when forwarding and replying to multiple people. Often I did not notice it and people were waiting for my response for a long time.
Although this extension is no longer maintained, I am very happy to report that it is still working with TB 24!

Very nice extension, you need to update the configuration of Thunderbird mailnews.sendInBackground : true, and you have a real send in background just as in Outlook!
But this extension needs to be updated by the owner :(

[off-topic] Would be nice for someone to write an extension to allow "edit..." of messages in outbox, not just in Drafts folder. (Not "edit as new...", just "edit..."). Would seem to fit well with extensions designed to let you correct errors seen after hitting "send."

It will work with Thunderbird 3.1.1:
1) Download the XPI file
2) Change the extension of the XPI file to ZIP
3) Un-zip the ZIP file
4) Open the file INSTALL.RDF in a text editor
5) Find the tag: 3.0.*
6) Change "3.0.*" to "3.1.*"
7) Re-Zip all the files
8) Rename the ZIP extension back to XPI
9) Install in Thunderbird. Restart it.
OBS 1: If installed already, uninstall it from Thunderbird first
OBS 2: You can usually edit the RDF file inside the ZIP file without having to un-ZIP/re-ZIP. Most ZIP programs should allow that.
And yes: why isn't this feature/option part of Thunderbird by default????

0.5.3 does not work with TB3.1. Please update
I really do not understand how this functionality is not provided in TB options already....

This does not work on Tbird 3.03. The emails do not get sent out at all.

Very useful extension, but unfortunately BlunderDelay doesn't work for me when CompactHeader (1.1.4) is also installed.
(Thunderbird 3.01 on Windows XP)

You are right SullyJason but if you install magislr button (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/902) you do not need CTR-Shift-Enter just click on the button sent it later.
Problem both addons are not Thunderbird 3.0 compatible.
Andrew C. Brown needs to work on it we need the must have BlunderDelay addon.

Can you add a function that send mails one by one at intervals?

This is an important Extension, but if occurs an error that displays a pop-up window (Example: a "Send Message Error" pop-up window shown because smtp failed.), this Extension will stop working until the pop-up window is closed.
Please, how can I disable pop-up windows, those are preventing execution of this Extension or of other events.

I have long desired something just this simple. I just hit ctrl+shift+enter and the mail is sent at intervals in the background. Couldn't be happier.
