CategoryManager
Rated 3 out of 5 stars
Hi.
I'm currently using MS Office. Now that I'm retired I'm transitioning away from the paid apps. I'm trialling Thunderbird and how it interacts with my outlook.com account.
So far so good. One thing that I rely on is that of categories. So I installed the CategoryManager. I'm not sure if it supports calendar categories as they're not being displayed from my Outlook account.
What do I need to do for it to integrate my outlook categories with T'bird's calendar entries?
Thanks
Provider for Google Calendar
Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Since moving to the Mac universe and the iOS universe I have searched in vain for something to sync Outlook for Mac calendars across machines. Enter Thunderbird, Lighning Calendar and Provider for Google Calendar.
Works great. A bit fiddly to set up, but once done, works well. Offline functionality still a bit wonky as it seems that all data is loaded from the "cloud" on startup of T'Bird. Maybe wrong, but that's how it seems.
Now my cals on the Mac Mini, Macbook Air, iPhone and iPad are all sync'ed. No need for the basic "iCal" on the MacOS platform which is somewhat basic.
Lightning
Rated 3 out of 5 stars
I've been an Outlook user for years. I've been using it to sync to Google which in turn syncs to my mobile phone. However, I migrated to Thunderbird last week and found Lightning. It seems to do OK, but it lacks a few features which I think are vital to the overall experience.
1. No task sync with Google or other third party providers such as Toodledo.
2. Cannot assign different colors other than a small barely visible sidebar.
3. Month display doesn't work. No events are shown. Only works in multi-week or day view.
If these points could be addressed it would then complete the package.
