OPEN THE RULE MANAGER
Click the Bulk Message Filter button in the Thunderbird toolbar. If the button is hidden, open Thunderbird's Extensions menu and choose Bulk Message Filter. The rule manager opens in its own window.
CREATE A RULE
1. Enter a name for the rule.
2. Enter sender email addresses in the Emails box, one address per line. Commas and semicolons are also accepted.
3. Under From Account (Source), choose All Accounts or select one or more accounts to watch.
4. Choose the Destination Folder.
5. Select Save Rule.
New rules use Match Any: a new incoming message matches when its sender field contains at least one listed address. Rules run when new mail arrives; they do not scan old messages. The first enabled rule that matches is applied.
MANAGE RULES
The Manage Rules panel lists each rule and its source-account-to-destination route. Use Edit to change a rule, ON/OFF to pause or resume it, and Delete to remove it.
HOW MESSAGES ARE HANDLED
For a POP3 source account, a matching message is moved to the destination folder. For an IMAP source account, it is copied, leaving the original message in its source folder on the server.
PRIVACY AND COMPATIBILITY
Sender addresses and rule data are processed locally in Thunderbird and are not sent to an external service. Thunderbird 106.0 or later is required.
