Thank you for the great work. However, like with many others, the costs should have been made clearer from the beginning. I have no doubt that you’ve invested a lot of time and effort into this, and thus the cost is understandable. But please don’t use that as an argument when others (99%) offer great add-ons for free.

You chose to create this add-on, so please don’t complain about it – there are always other options to explore.

As a free (as in beer) alternative, I highly recommend using quickText. I think that one will be eventually a pure web extension and thus will not create the large amount of follow up work that I have whenever Thunderbird changes something. I am working on Add-on development full time, so I cannot do it for free.

web extensions use the API functions only to carry out their work, which restricts them in some regards. The author of quickText is an employee of Thunderbird so he already is funded. It maybe a better fit for you as the work is being paid for by a large corporation.
