When I tried to install from firefox 3 I couldn't see an option to bypass the version check. Having a look in the page source shows the full address as
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/downloads/file/8266/minimizetotray-0.0.1.2006102615+-fx+zm+sb+tb.xpi

I just used IE to download but you should be able to right click and save the above link.
