Won't work for me :/ Could it be because of my thunderbird being a 64bit build? If so, would it be possible to solve this?
Or is there something else I might have missed?
I'm using Docky 2.0.0-Alpha-1-r1132, Python 2.6.4, Python-Dbus 0.83 and Thunderbird (Shredder) 3.0.2pre (64bit).
Otherwise great idea (so it's still 4 stars although it's not working for me :) )!

@Wahlholzer: We could try to work it out. Unfortunately, I'm using 32bit system, so I can't test it. Would you consider writing me a mail at lpiepiora at gmail.com, so I could ask you more specific details?
