This extension was very useful for me. So I created an extension (restartFox) that does the same and works with current versions of Firefox/Developer/Nightly.

Always loved this addon. In recent Firefox 46 there is no "restart" in menu and ctrl-alt-r not working.

Shift-F2 method does not provide me with a clean restart on 45.0.2.
On Win 7 I have autohidden taskbar. However every time I use this to start FX, I have to manually open every single FX window to get my taskbar to hide normally.
There is no "restart" choice under file menu for me.
"Restart Button" add-on is said to no longer work, just like "Restartless Restart." So I'm just stuck now with nothing. Sad. It looks like it should be so easy to provide. When I install new add-ons they have a restart button on their install page. Why doesn't someone who's already written one of those, just provide the restart functionality and skip the add-on? It would be trivial.
Maybe I could just do that over and over......hmmm, maybe enable and reenable some tiny add-on every time, effectively achieving a restart button?
I am reduced to considering this absurd approach because no one has written a working restart button add-on. Would somebody please just write it?

I've used it a lot and now it's unsupported. Thanks to the development team - that was an example of how to write simple, but very important things.
All: now should hit SHIFT+F2 and then type "restart"+ENTER

Two years ago, when this add-on worked beautifully, I'd have given it 5 stars without a moment's thought!
However, when an add-on no longer works with any recent versions of Firefox, and NONE of the documentation on the add-on page tells you that the add-on is no longer being updated, it deserves no more than 2 stars!
Given that both the Add-on Home Page and Support Site are dead links, I'd normally give the add-on no more than 1 star, but this was a great, simple extension when it worked, so I simply can't give it such a low rating.
It's about time that AMO start clearing out the add-ons that are no longer being actively developed and move them to an archive area. Those of us looking for CURRENT add-ons are finding it harder and harder to find them among all of the dead ones!

Everyone: You can use the developer toolbar (Developer menu), or hit <SHIFT> F2, and then type "restart" in the command bar now.

It's a pity, but it has stopped working from this version. Meanwhile the author fixes the add-on you can use Another Restart.

Thanks for this one. No matter how many times something [me] screwed up and I had to reinstall addons, this was always one of the first. Ce la vie, or as Kurt said, "so it goes".

Not working on FF 44.02 OS X 10.11.3 El Capitan. Developer's site at Github 404'd. Pity.
