This addon requires full unrestricted access to both Thunderbird and my computer, but the anonymous author of this addon is not identified in any way that would allow me to verify if the author is a trustworthy and competent person. In short, this addon, through its very existence, encourages users to give complete strangers unrestricted access to their computers. Even if this addon itself is not directly harmful, this addon is still indirectly harmful by virtue of the fact that it encourages unsafe security practices on the part of users.
I am afraid there is nothing we can do about this message. As legacy Add-ons have the same access to your computer as Thunderbird has, it is factually correct; however, therefore the complete source code is being reviewed for security by the Add-ons review team, which should alleviate some of that worry.
Please visit to the FiltaQuilla GitHub - where the complete source code is also shared - to clarify this further.
If FiltaQuilla was a pure mail extension and hence only used official APIs, then this message would not be displayed. However: there are no Filter APIs at the moment. So we cannot "fix" this problem for you.

Unfortunately, addon now doesn't work in Thunderbird version 155.
UPD: I'll tried to install from Github and it's works. Thanks!
v6.3 currently awaiting review by the team at ATN, if you need it earlier you can get the tagged release on Github! I cannot link it here directly but if you go to the support site link you can find it from there... if not contact me directly please.

Thanks to the Devs Link to his Github Page all works perfectly fine and is worth a 5/5.
This Thunderbird Add-ons Page on the Otherhand, does have a few issues, luckly i do have another Account i forgot to have, to fix it all.
The Issue this Site has is, editing a Review does not work, as the Review page states there is still Required Fields, thus wont let me send the altered Review, so its gone now and this is the new one.
I was also not able to Write a new Review after i had erased the old one, there is a oops page that shows up instead.
This Extension is Great, though!
Cheers.
yeah don;t worry about the review, main thing is you can use FiltaQuilla again, hopefully the new version will be live soon!

I need an AdonOn do save attachments from more then one Mails. But the strange way here with filters are weird...
Ta opinia jest o wcześniejszej wersji dodatku (6.2.2).Not quite sure what the problem is - you can try the contact link on the bottom of the Support page in settings or raise a bug on the FiltaQuilla Github.

I used the original version and was bummed out when it stopped working! Just found this new version.
I **really** need the Folder Name predicate. It makes potentially destructive filters safe to use.
I use it on my Ads folders to delete everything older than 30 days manually. I sure wouldn't want that to run on my Receipts folder!
This make life better!
Tip: make sure you install my companion Add-on quickFilters as well, then you can set to "run filters automatically" on dedicated IMAP folders. (doesn't work in POP3)

(Semi-)Automated archiving can be a very promising use case of an "archive" action.
"Full computer access" permission? Maybe a bit extensive for my very focused use case.
There is no filters API, so the Add-on needs to use the "experimental" model - which allows full access to the front end code, like all Add-ons until version 68 had. This also means that the complete source code is always reviewed by a security person before it is allowed to be listed on ATN. With this, the Add-on has the same system access as Thunderbird front-end code.
On the other hand, the permissions based Add-ons (web extensions / "mail extensions") that you prefer, can do what they want, but the user gives them permissions to certain parts, such as reading / writing emails, address book etc - and then it can pretty much do what it wants in those specific areas - for instance, harvest your data.
But like I said there is no web extensions API for doing anything with filters, so there are no native mail extensions that can do anything like adding custom filter conditions or actions. It's impossible for a standard mail extension at the moment. I am working with Thunderbird Core developers to get something like this off the ground but it is highly complicated and not prioritized,

Excellent, excellent!
It's the best, it's so helpful. Thank you so much for this great development and for keeping it updated.

Need a version for that works with Thunderbird 141.0.
I'm on the release channel, so I recently got upgraded to 141.0, This Add-on quit working. Add-on manager states it's not supported.
I have the 2025-06-27 Version 5.3 and I restarted. Thunderbird still says it's not supported with 141.0
Hi there - it is already uploaded here to ATN and is awaiting review. In the meantime you can go to the FiltaQuilla Github and download the latest version under tagged releases. We cannot post links here but shoot me an email so I can send you a link.

I had a great couple of years using Filtaquilla, but after 4/8/25 autosaving attachments with Filtaquilla stopped working. Found the Github thread where others had the same issue / same new version of Thunderbird.
https://github.com/RealRaven2000/FiltaQuilla/issues/339
RealRaven2000 posted a zip file that fixed it, yay. It made me realize how much I depend on this autosave feature.
thanks for your review. I am sure we can fix it, please make sure to add your observations on the Github. We have to move with the changes in the platform, and attachments are the main reason I have made a new branch that requires Thunderbird 128 as minimum version.
My main objectives for future FiltaQuilla are security and performance (in that order) I am sinking as much time into this as possible, even though I do not want to monetize the Add-on, because I think it is important to the community, and because it is a risky Add-on to maintain (as it deals with the data directly).
I have just rewritten the Javascript methods because the old (highly dangerous) eval() function is now officially off the table (It throws a CSP exception) - and came up with a way to run script in a sandbox, this will be part of the next release as soon as saving attachments is fully working!

The majority of users detest most notifications - especially when they are connected to filters that run automatically. YMMV. Such eclectic improvements can best be suggested on the GitHub:

I'd really love to try this add-on, but any add-on that requires unrestricted access to Thunderbird and my computer to just nor secure.
Come on guys, let's get with modern secure times...

Hi,
can you please add the option to apply filters to sub folders?
There was once an addon which made this possible.
But only for TB v3.
Best regards :)
Please put feature requests like this on our Github. It may have actually been a feature of FiltaQuilla itself.

It worked perfectly at the beginning, when I first created the filters and run them manually. It does not work as set (I have all the options checked, so it should save the attachment 10 minutes after being delivered). Or maybe I misunderstood what this plugin is about. I would give it 5* if it worked automatically. I am using subfolders, so maybe it does not work on them. Thank you.
****************EDIT***************
Apparently it is caused by IMAP, and POP3 probably does not have this issue. I downloaded Filter Button add-on and can now run filter manually very quickly. I give 5* to this add-on. I found this on github:
"Ultimately this is a Thunderbird bug. All Filter actions are executed by Thunderbird automatically. FiltaQuilla only adds new methods, but Thunderbird decides when these filters are supposed to run - if it decides it can run filters on emails where the body needs to be investigated, but it isn't fully downloaded at that stage, there is nothing the filter can do to recover from this.
I think the timing (especially for IMAP accounts) of filter execution on startup is buggy. If you check your filter log, it will show which filters are applied (that means their condition was met when the filter was run) - you could check the Javascript error console after startup whether you see any exceptions, then we would have something to work with..."
note quite sure here what you mean - Thunderbird can only run filters automatically from the inbox. If you think you have found a bug, please try the filtaquilla github.

very good plugin for saving attachments, good replacement for AttachmentExtractor (deprecated). Configuration is under Addons and under Extras / Filters.
At first emails were sometimes not processed, it helped:
- Change mail account from IMAP to POP3
- set your actions on the filter to be extracted AFTER junk classification for extra stability

The add-on works great, but it has one limitation that I can't get around. The "Save Message as File" option saves the file without national diacritics. i.e. e.g. replaces "ą" with "a". Can you do something about it?
Ta opinia jest o wcześniejszej wersji dodatku (3.6.1).replacing a safety feature by the original author - can you raise a github issue / feature request for allowing other characters?

This is a brilliant add-on, but I'd like to ask: is there a way to put the option "unless sent only to me" in a filter?

This is the only extension which makes a Thunderbird irreplaceable and useful again at modern time. I wonder why such kill-feature was not already adopted by Thunderbird team....

I've been using FiltaQuilla for a few years now. It has "quite a few" options to customize the filtering that allowed me to setup "quite a few" filters for diverse needs.
It has worked consistently in the background making my use of Thunderbird more productive.
I had to add a new of filters for some additional projects that came my way and hence had to pay attention to FiltaQuilla again. It helped to tune the email traffic exactly as I needed.
I am no expert in Thunderbird and FiltaQuilla but can quickly state that if one needs message filters (who doesn't?) then FiltaQuilla deserves a serious evaluation.

I have used this add-on for more than 10 years I believe. I "pinned" the Thunderbird upgrades on my Debian Testing system a few years ago because too much seemed to be changing! Recently I "unpinned" everything and started using Thunderbird 91. I was concerned that many of my add-ons would fail at this point, but was delighted to find FiltaQuilla works even better than before!
I have a lot of filters for several IMAP and POP accounts. I assist with running a podcast and several components of the system behind it use email notifications. In particular I receive episode comments this way, and can easily place them in a directory for moderation and processing.
This add-on has some great features that I use all the time.
