Wonderful add-on, but we NEED it for TB 60+!!
I'll be happy to offer support if I hear there is a plan to adapt to the new Thunderbird APIs!!!

First, many thanks for this great add-on.
It has recently (ver. 1.2.1) stopped working in TB 31.5.0 on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS:
- doesn't prevent deletion actually
- can't be configured: the configuration dialog doesn't offer OK/Cancel buttons - just 'Close' - but that drops any changes made
- it doesn't even issue a confirmation dialog upon deletion attempt

How many Tags are supported by this AddOn? Does it support only a single tag? Could you extend it to support several tags?

When I click on options in the Add-On Manager to set the settings, the screen cuts off the Okay/Cancel buttons and I am unable to resize it. Please help!

Great addon, it has been indispensable for me as I tend to do mass purges every 6-12 months of my email folders, Trying to remember which files important are important is a thing of the past, once they are marked, anyway!
as a side note: I notice someone saying its not working probably.
I had one problem with the extension gmail buttons, which was deleting my emails regardless of tags.

Somehow the extension no longer works reliably after installing TB 17.0.08. It won't retain my settings, and one is able to simply delete messages without seeing a popup...
I uninstalled and reinstalled, but it doesn't make a difference.
Works fine in TB 24.0 for me on Win7.

A good add-on, thank you!
But a couple of improvement suggestions.
(1) To be able to apply it to multiple tags.
(2) This would be great - to be able to prevent delete for starred messages.
When I check my mail on my phone, I have no way of adding tags etc, but I can star messages. Therefore I could star a message on my phone and make sure I don't delete it later on Thunderbird.

Je ne sais pas comment d'autres font pour ce passer de cet addon, vu la facilité déconcertante avec laquelle on détruit un message/ Thunderbird
J'ai apprécié
* la simplicité d''utilisation :
- appui sur touche numérique 1 pour empêcher l'effacement
- puis appui sur touche numérique 0 pour autoriser l'a suppression
* le soin pour les détails (si un nouvel utilisateur tentait de supprimer un message verrouillé il reçoit un message d'avertissement
* Pas de bug
* Fonctionne sur les comptes IMAP
J'espère qu'un jour cette fonctionnalité soit intégrée dans Thunderbird

Good idea and implementation but works on a local basis only. What about if the same account is setup on a different PC also (IMAP shared account) ?

Thanks for your interest on the subject.
I am using Thunderbird 11.0, portable edition by portableapps.com. If I select one message protected by PREVENT DELETE and another not protected and press the 'del' at keyboard the protected message is not deleted and the unprotected is deleted, but if I press the button 'delete' with the mouse, both are deleted. I tried a number of times and always that behaviour repeats. I changed the tag name, but noting changed.

I have interest in cooperate with you because this is an extremely useful addon and I am searching for since I moved from Pegasus Mail to Thunderbird many years ago.
Ok, you're right, the "delete" button in the header of messages list when you select multiple messages keep the previous behavior. I found where it occurs in the code (multimessageview.xhtml) but didn't find yet how to fix it.Thunderbird code is quite weird at this place... Hope I will find an idea.

I really like this idea but doesn't seem to work when using the "delete" button in an open message. Another feature to add for next version.

Not bad if you delete things one at a time, but be aware that it doesn't seem work if you're deleting multiple messages... HINT: that would be a nice upgrade for a future release.
