Unbelievable!!! For years, my inbox has been dragging, constantly buffering with 17+GB. Only today when using WindDirStat to see what folders were biggest I discovered duplicate mails. I started deleting by hand, but there were so many. I looked for an add-on and found this. I ran it, it crashed about 10 times but it deleted all my duplicates eventually!! The Profile size is down to 7.7GB. I'll see how the performance goes but I am very hopeful

It's a very great extension in thunderbird 68, I try the alternative in Thunderbird 78, but it didn't find any duplicate email. Could you update your extension for thunderbird 78 and later.... Thanks..

doesn't work with IMAP, only with POP3

TB v68.11.0 - I still love it. The error described in the previous review is gone. The reason was a missing TRASH-folder. I reinstalled it - and everything worked fine again. The missing TRASH-folder prohibited the deletion of any file - even manually.

However some user updated to 78.0.1 is not work on this. Hope it have a 1.8 ver in further

Works fine. But DEL and KEEP should be localized for displaying, for French.
Fonctionne bien mais les mots DEL et KEEP devraient être traduits en français.

il ne manque qu'une progression de l'avancement de la suppression car on ne sait pas trop si il fait le job ou pas mais une fois qu'on sait qu'il le fait bien on fait autre chose le temps qu'il finisse

It seems to detect the duplicated message. But as a previous reviewer pointed out, I can't find the preference menu in either Thunderbird/Preference nor in Toos/Add-on Preference.
TB 68.3.0 in macOS 10.13.6

Works well, nice overview of messages to be deleted and their matches. Thunderbird has been duplicating messages in my Sent mail folder recently, which is why I wanted this addon. I didn't notice the "ignore sent messages folder" that was checked by default, but once I changed it, it worked. (Note: right-click on the folder you want to check -- I didn't see any instructions to do that.)

It does something but doesn't seem to accomplish anything on Thunderbird 68.2.2. Only the right-click menu item shows, but there are no preferences. When I select it from the right-click menu, the result is a popup that says "Could not find any duplicate messages in the selected folders.".
Edit 1:
The other clones of RD plugin in earlier versions of TB did find duplicates in the same circumstances. Also the preferences do NOT appear in Thunderbird Menu > Add-ons and Tools > Add-on Preferences
If that helps, I am using TB for Mac.
Edit 2:
The add-on preferences don't show neither in Add-on Preferences, nor in the Add-ons pane.
Also in my config there are leftovers from the original add-on from the time it was using it with an earlier version of TB, so in fact I do have saved preferences. These are not taken into count.
Last but not least, thanks for trying to help.
So you have no duplicates, the preferences are in Thunderbird Menu > Add-ons and Tools > Add-on Preferences.
Edit:
The prefs are in 2 places:
Thunderbird Menu > Add-ons
Menu Bar > Tools > Add-on Preferences
If you can't change the prefs, you don't know what you're comparing.
I don't have Mac right now, so I can't test it myself.

It's OK and seems to find duplicates accurately but needs a way to set default KEEP / DELETE options. Reversing the defaults by hand is impossible with 100s or 1000s of duplicates.

You can also reverse the search direction.
Just experiment a bit, there probably is a setting that matches your preferences.
