Basically, it's good and useful. However, I'm missing something essential, that this add-on doesn't provide - at least not in a convenient way: Extract ONLY the attachments from the mails marked directly in a folder or inbox. If you want to extract, let's say, from 20 mails, within a folder where 800 mails are sitting, you'll have to manually select them in the add-on's UI, one by one, or alternately extract them all and then unpack only the needed ones.
It would be great if you could at least mark and select multiple ones there at once.
To compare it, the add-on Attachment Extractor offers a very simple way and provides useful features. You simply mark the mails, click the add-on button and a small window appears, allowing to use placeholders for filename, file date, etc. If Extract'EM had some of these features, it would be really nice.

Does not fully works for me (Fedora 40+TB 128.8.1esr (64-bit)).
- Collect attachments information: OK
- Extract attachments: action has been executed but unable to found the extracted files on the expected folder.
- no way to change target extraction folder
I would like to help you with this issue. First, please try extracting again, and use the Show Files button to open the save directory; please note if this varies from the download directory assigned in the Thunderbird settings. Please open a bug report @ https://github.com/tmccoid-tech/extract-em if you would be so kind.

Sorry but it doesn't work, whether I select a folder or all emails and try to export all attachments. I also tried to select a specific filetype (jpeg) and still doesn't work. Attachments are not detected (0) and so the destination folder is empty.
Đánh giá này là cho một phiên bản trước của tiện ích (1.6.2).If you would, please open an issue on the extension's Github page: https://github.com/tmccoid-tech/extract-em. Then I can work with you to resolve the issue.

Please, you should introduce the possibility to select attachment on the basis of time. I need to extract every month attachments in the mails received in the previous month. Add also the possibility to choose the file extention of files to extract. Tahnk you

does not remove the attachment. 128.2.1.esr 64-bit
Đánh giá này là cho một phiên bản trước của tiện ích (1.4.3).Extract 'Em! does not remove the attachment by default. However, the option is available (Permanently Detach) after the fact. Currently the Permanently Detach feature does not work with IMAP accounts, a problem which is beyond my control; I am consulting with the Thunderbird API team regarding the issue.

Good but lacks function to extract only 'unread' mail attachments in the specified folder, and lacks ability to plugin to message filters. It would be perfect if I could have a filter to automatically extract pdf's from folders of only unread mails.

Cannot choose specific destination folder.
Đánh giá này là cho một phiên bản trước của tiện ích (1.4.3).Versions of Extract 'Em! prior to 1.5.1 deferred to the Thunderbird settings for FIle and Attachment handling (always prompt or use a specified directory); I suspect that your setting was for the latter. With 1.5.1, an Extract 'Em! option has been added allowing you to select whether you want to be prompted to select a directory, or always use the one indicated by the respective Thunderbird setting.

As I understand it, the extension allows you to export all attachments, but not, for example, all attachments of a single message. At least, after calling the extension from the context menu of a message, it displays that "123456 messages are selected". Mozilla Thunderbird 128.2.0esr (64-bit). Microsoft Windows 10.0.19045.4842.

Before Extract'Em was available, I tried a number of attachment extraction addons. Most of them had serious limitations or did not work with recent versions of Thunderbird. Extract'Em allowed me to extract a large number of attachments from more than 30,000 mails. I encountered a problem with deleted attachments but this was fixed very quickly by the developer.
Many thanks for this particularly useful addon.

I was able to backup about 170,000 attachments in over 55,000 emails thanks to Extract Em and clear out space on my email inbox. I had tried the extension called Attachment Saver and that only backs up 600-700 files in one zip so that didn't work for me. Other addons weren't supported by newer Thunderbird versions. So I'm glad this extension works as advertised even for large operations. The dev was fast to respond and to fix an issue with my use case so I'm thankful for that as well! Thanks for making this extension
