short: Thunderbird Contacts to 3CX Phone System made easy.

So, after waiting some time and with no addond popping up, I picked myself up and, with some help of KI-magic, wrote the plugin myself. The result is an easy to use little helper which can be used to update the 3CX phonebook within one minute.
EXPORT-> DELETE in 3CX -> IMPORT to 3CX
that's all.
Sources
- Thunderbird address books, including CardDAV ones (e.g. Google Contacts), and their mailing lists
- CardBook address books with lists and categories (detected automatically, CardBook 107 or later)
- vCard files (.vcf), e.g. an export from your phone or another program
Pick whole address books or single lists and categories. Your selection is remembered.
Target in 3CX
- Company or department phonebook (import in the Admin Console)
- Personal phonebook of an extension (import in the Web Client)
For each target the add-on shows the matching import steps.
Clean-up
- Phone numbers are normalised: international (+49 911 …), national (0911 …) or left as they are
- Mobile, home, work, fax and pager numbers go into the matching 3CX columns, even if the type is only stored as a label (e.g. "Mobile" or "Handy" in CardBook). Additional numbers can be placed in free columns; fax numbers never end up in a voice column
- Every entry gets a mobile, home or business number, as 3CX requires for the import
- Contacts without a phone number (or with only a fax number) can be left out
- Duplicates from several sources are merged
- Large address books are split into several files (default: 1,000 entries per file)
- Before saving you get a preview and a list of all notes, e.g. on skipped contacts
How it works
1. Click the "3CX Export" button in the toolbar
2. Choose sources and target
3. Check the preview and save the CSV file
4. Import the file in 3CX
Privacy
The add-on reads your contacts on this computer only and writes the CSV file wherever you save it. It sends nothing to the internet and needs no 3CX credentials.
Permissions
- Read address books: to convert the contacts
- Downloads: to save the CSV file
- Storage: to remember your selection and settings
Good to know
- The 3CX import file has a single e-mail column. If a contact has several addresses, the preferred one is used, otherwise the first.
- The import itself is done in 3CX. The add-on does not connect to the phone system.
- 3CX only adds entries on import. Before importing again, delete the entries from your last import in 3CX, otherwise they will appear twice.
- After an export the add-on shows how much time you saved and asks for a coffee. You can hide this for 4 weeks.
Languages (follows the Thunderbird language): English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese (Brazil and Portugal), Dutch, Polish, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian (Bokmål), Czech, Russian, Ukrainian, Turkish, Japanese, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Korean.
Requirements: Thunderbird 128 or later, 3CX V20.
