Read foreign-language email in Thunderbird: the translation appears beside the original, in a split view. Google Translate, MyMemory or DeepL — the default needs no account and no key.

toolbar button on any open email to see the translation side-by-side with the
original — no copying, no switching tabs.
Nothing is sent anywhere until you allow it: open the add-on's Settings once and
tick "Allow sending email text for translation".
Translation engines — you pick one in Settings:
• Google Translate (default) — free, no account and no key, detects the source
language automatically
• MyMemory — free, no account; its own daily quota is limited per IP address
(~1,000 words), and you set the source language manually
• DeepL — highest quality, needs a free API key (500,000 characters/month)
The engine you choose is the only service contacted. If a translation fails, the
message tells you which engine failed and why — the add-on never switches to a
service you did not choose. The ↻ button in the panel translates the email again,
for instance after you change the engine.
Only the text content of the email you are reading is sent. Sender, recipients,
subject, headers and attachments are never transmitted, and there is no
telemetry of any kind — the developer receives nothing.
Translations are cached locally, so re-opening the same email is instant.
Auto-translate can be turned on to translate every opened email automatically.
