copy email addresses from your correspondents with just a few clicks.
Features
New: Flexible Email, Destination Controls, and Reliable Large Exports
This update expands export options and makes large attachment jobs easier to understand, save, and recover:
- Three Focused Tabs:
The redesigned popup separates E-mails, Attachments, and Settings while keeping the extension version and selected-message count visible. The native light/dark interface includes keyboard-accessible tabs and clearer cards, controls, progress, and reports.
- More Email Formats:
Export email addresses to the clipboard, CSV (comma, semicolon, or tab), JSON, or vCard. CSV output also neutralizes values that spreadsheet applications could interpret as formulas.
- Attachment Organization and Filters:
Organize files by sender, date, conversation, or a flat list, and filter likely signature images, file extensions, and maximum file size before export.
- Persistent Preview and Two Safe Large-Export Formats:
Follow persistent message, attachment, size, compression, and download progress. After analysis reaches 100%, its totals remain visible while the same messages and options stay selected. Exports up to 256 MiB use one ZIP. Larger or uncertain selections default to independent ZIP files of approximately 240 MiB: every completed ZIP is checkpointed, can be extracted separately, and an interrupted export resumes only unfinished files. Advanced users can instead create one genuine multi-volume ZIP made of linked .z01, .z02… files and a final .zip; every volume must remain together and the final .zip must be opened with a compatible extractor. A multi-volume run is validated only after its final .zip exists; if reading, scanning, saving, or cancellation interrupts it, resuming rebuilds the complete selection as a new series instead of mixing incompatible parts. An individual attachment above 256 MiB remains safely blocked.
- Clear Destination Settings:
Thunderbird controls the base download folder, and the Settings tab explains exactly where to change it in Thunderbird. Mail Extractor can add a safe custom subfolder, displays the last actual folder used after a download, and can reveal that folder directly. Automatic mode saves every generated file into one unique export folder and opens it once after completion. Manual mode remains available when the user wants Thunderbird to ask where to save each file. Completion notifications can be disabled, and all settings can be restored to their defaults.
- Right-Click Export:
Start an attachment export from Thunderbird's message context menu using the exact selected messages.
Update: 1.7.2
Major Improvement: Advanced Collision Management & Automation
This update strengthens the reliability of the extension when handling complex attachment scenarios and streamlines the development process:
- Enhanced Folder Uniqueness:
Message folders now include the precise time ("YYYY-MM-DD_HHhMM_Subject"). This separates emails sent just minutes apart, which previously would have shared a folder.
- Smart File Collision Handling:
In the rare event that two different attachments have the same name within the same message folder, the extension now appends a numeric suffix (e.g., "document (1).pdf"). This prevents any file from being overwritten in the ZIP archive.
Update: 1.7.1
Critical Bug Fix: Hierarchical Attachment Organization
This update resolves a critical issue reported by users and introduces a powerful
hierarchical organization system designed for managing large volumes of emails:
- Critical Bug Fixed - File Name Collisions:
Resolved an issue where attachments with identical names from different emails
would overwrite each other in the ZIP file. Each attachment now has its own
dedicated location, ensuring no data loss.
- Sender-Based Organization:
Attachments are now grouped by sender email address at the root level.
This makes it incredibly easy to find all attachments from a specific
correspondent, especially useful when managing 500+ emails from multiple sources.
- Chronological Sorting with Context:
Within each sender's folder, emails are organized using the format
"YYYY-MM-DD_Subject". This provides clear chronological tracking while
maintaining subject context for easy identification.
- Scalable Architecture:
The hierarchical structure (Sender → Date/Subject → Attachments) is designed
to handle thousands of emails efficiently. IT professionals managing bulk
email exports will benefit from this organized, navigable structure.
- Original File Names Preserved:
All attachments retain their original file names within their respective folders,
ensuring compatibility with existing workflows and no information loss.
Update: 1.7.0
Transparency Update – JSZip Source
This update aims to enhance the project's transparency:
- JSZip Library Update:
- Replacement of the minified jszip.min.js file with the non-minified version jszip.js
- The source code of the JSZip library is now readable and accessible, offering better visibility on how it works
- Why this change?
- To ensure complete transparency for users: nothing to hide, everything is visible!
- No other functional modifications have been made to the extension
Update: 1.6.6
Bug Fix - Dark Mode
This update fixes a display issue in dark mode:
- CSS Correction:
Resolution of text visibility issues in dark mode:
- Fixed CSS variables structure for dark theme
- Improved label and text readability
- Adjusted colors for better dark mode compatibility
- Visual Improvements:
Optimized contrast and visibility of interface elements in dark mode
Update: 1.6.2
User Interface Improvements
This update brings a complete overhaul of email extraction options for better
clarity:
- Dropdown Menu Redesign:
Replacement of old options with more precise and explicit fields:
- From
- To
- Cc
- Bcc
- Reply-To
- All Recipients (To, Cc, Reply-To)
- Translation Updates:
Updated translations to reflect the new extraction fields
Update: 1.6.1
Bug Fixes and Improvements
This update brings essential corrections and enhancements to optimize the
extension's functionalities:
- Use of Commas as Separators:
Replacement of semicolons with commas in CSV content generation to
ensure better compatibility with standard CSV readers.
- Escaping Quotes in Names: Names containing quotes are
now properly escaped by doubling internal quotes.
- Verification of Email Existence Before Export:
Addition of a condition to check if allEmails contains emails before
generating and downloading the CSV file. If allEmails is empty, a custom
alert is displayed.
Update : 1.6.0

previous limitations.

display the number of currently selected messages, updating in real-time

Update : 1.5.1
Bug Fixes and Improvements
This update addresses specific issues and enhances the functionality of the extension:
- CSV Export Separator Fix: Corrected the logic for CSV export to ensure that the semicolon separator is only used when the "Include Names" option is checked. This ensures that the CSV format aligns with user expectations.
- Checkbox State Persistence: Implemented storage for the new "Export to CSV" checkbox state. The user's preference is now saved and restored upon reopening the extension, providing a more seamless user experience.
Update : 1.5.0

experience:
- CSV Export Option: Users can now export extracted email
addresses to a CSV file with a semicolon separator. This makes it easier
to import data into other applications.

allows users to separate names and email addresses from headers like
"Thunderbird Add-ons <nobody@thunderbird.net>". Names and emails
are now clearly distinguished in the output.
