Add toolbar icons to purge (compact folders) and/or delete junk messages to your toolbar and thread context menu. Right-click on the toolbar and select Customise, then drag-n-drop the new icons to the toolbar.

I'm a programmer, not a brick-layer or graphics artist. If you want to supply something nicer for the icons, I'd be more than happy to include them in the next release.

Thunderbird 3 now has its own Compact toolbar button, thus the Purge button is not provided in Thunderbird 3 (only for Thunderbird 2); the Delete Junk button and the Message List Pane context menus remain available. To use Purge, simply customise the toolbar and add the Purge (Thunderbird 2 only) or Compact (Thunderbird 3's own) button and/or the Delete Junk button.
