I found an alternative on the net that seems to work: altrefcontrol (referer control in context menu)

Thank you for having repaired the omission of this option. It exists in firefox, why not in thunderbird?...
In the end it's the first thing I saw and tried to make good on this version 11 and that is why I like Thunderbird because there will always be someone like you to repair. Thank you again.
