My Reviews
Forecastfox Weather
Rated 1 out of 5 stars
It's sad when the new version of an addon is worse in every way than the old one. What are the devs thinking?
The new extension removed features I considered critical (like day and night forecast), and seems buggy to boot.
Forecastfox Weather
Rated 4 out of 5 stars
I have used forecast fox for some time, and love how easy it is to use. Lately, however, I have started realizing its shortcomings. The biggest is the source - accuweather sucks. It is usually about 5-10 degrees off from my thermometer. Weather.com, on the other hand, is much more accurate. What is the point of a weather reading/forecast if it is consistently off? This bring me to my second point. Forecastfox switched over to accuweather a year or two ago. I noticed that the extension send a referral tag when you click the weather readout, netting them something like 15-25 cents per click. Normally I wouldn't mind this, after all, they deserve to make money too. But I accidentally click on the extension's readout sometimes, because it is close to some other icons. I wish there was a way to turn off this feature, bit I doubt they will because it is their main revenue source. I think the money is also why they moved to an inferior source in the first place.I now use 1-clickweather, essentially a clone that uses weather.com instead of accuweather. It has some of the same UI shortcomings, but it's actually useful to me because it uses a superior source of information.
