I've been keeping this addon alive by updating the max version number but it has finally failed. However, there is a direct replacements in the form of BorderColors GT at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/bordercolors-gt/?src=ss

Nach Abschaltung des Kompatibilitäts-Checks läuft es auch mit TB13 einwandfrei!

This addon is great.
I am running on TB 11, after tweak the compatibility version.
Hope you can maintain and update it in a near future.

Fonctionne très bien sous Thunderbird 10 (mais il faut hacker le fichier install.rdf car l'auteur ne s'en occupe plus).
Pourquoi Mozilla ne valide pas automatiquement ce plugin très utile ? :o(

For now I'm _only_ giving this add-on 3 stars, simply because it's not working in Thunderbird 7.0.1. I _did_ change the em:max number to 7.1, but I don't get any borders. It's too bad, because I LOVE this add-on. I have many accounts, and those borders helped me keep from sending emails from the wrong account, like I just did this evening. (I sent a business email from my personal account rather than the business account.)
PLEASE GET THIS WORKING IN 7+

1. Modify xpi file:
- Rename bordercolors-0.6-tb.xpi to bordercolors-0.6-tb.zip
- Extract install.rdf from bordercolors-0.6-tb.zip
- Edit number behind <em:maxVersion> in install.rdf
- Add install.rdf to bordercolors-0.6-tb.zip
- Rename bordercolors-0.6-tb.zip to bordercolors-0.6-tb.xpi
2. Add-ons-Manager of Thunderbird:
- Remove deactivated BorderColors
- Install modified BorderColors:
- gear wheel Icon -> Install Addon from File...
- Browse to bordercolors-0.6-tb.xpi
- Install.
3. It works with Thunderbird 7.0.1
4. It even remembers the color settings, which were last used under Thunderbird 3

Also works with TB7. Just change the maximal version in install.rdf.

Please update... !

A less intrusive and more intuitive add-on than Identity Chooser. The identity/color configuration is a bit garbled, but it works. Thank you.

Great utility - I never knew that I needed this until I tried it - it's incredibly useful when you have multiple accounts.
I do have the same problem that others have mentioned - in the preferences dialog, it associates the wrong 'full name' with the account name, so it was a matter of trial and error to figure out what account each entry in the preferences dialog really corresponded to. But once past that, it works fine.

I liked this add on, but since it has not been updated, I've found Identity Chooser, and I like that one even better.
Thanks Mike K. for your contribution, it was very much appreciated.

I'm surprised Thunderbird doesn't already have something as obvious as this. More should be done to stop you sending mail from the wrong account, but this is a good start.
