Worked well for a long time but in last couple of weeks have lost all my addressbooks (with thousands of entries).
(Backups you say, yes, that would be a good idea.)
Anyway, appreciate the hard work, and have appreciated the usefulness, but can't recommend at the moment. Take care.

No installer or Setup file. Readme is full of code. Hence, no way to install!
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (4.9).Please read https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/installing-addon-thunderbird on how to install an add-on in Thunderbird.

Doesn't seem to work with Thunderbird in a Linux environment. Set up IMAP transfer from my Windows 11 computer to an Ubuntu laptop and I can't get the Ubuntu environment to import at all. Suggestions welcome!

Very good. Sometimes the tool bar icon disappears (tb91). Also would like to save one address book (personal) to imap and another address book (Office) to work server. Currently all have to be saved to imap, remote or local, no mixing.

Hello, why do I get an error "URL scheme not allowed" when I write an ftp:// address?
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (4.5).Thunderbird does not supports FTP

Cannot upload my addresbook, it says:
"21 gru 2021, 11:33:25
Thunderbird start 21 gru 2021, 11:32:29
Start upload (remote)
- My_addressbook. (lastMod=before appstart) ...Error 400"
Addressbooks synchronizer v4.2
Thunderbird v 91.4.1 (x32)
It's not a webserver issue - the download functionality works like it should.
Error 400 not shows up when trying upload directly from plugin settings, it says only:
"Start upload (remote)
- My_addressbook. (lastMod=before appstart) ...method not allowed (7)"
Error 400 is an error from your webserver. Please check the setting of host/path, user and password

As others have said, this is not a true sync . However it does have merit. It copies all address book files with options for when you enter or exit the program, or on a schedule, but it does not address multiple changes.
Without knowing the developers restrictions within his environment it is impossible to comment on whether this is something that can be addressed by him. I was unable to find a means to contact him directly to offer options.
In my environment, I have several PCs on a LAN with a shared file server. We share Thunderbird mail accounts easily but sharing address books on a common share drive has not been supported for some time. So Thunderbird developers have created a problem that this app attempts to resolve for me.
For the developer, Günter Gersdorf.. Thank you for this app which does help me but does not address true syncing or multiuser updates to the files. True syncing would be quite complicated (comparing files and inserting/removing records) However, informing a client that the address file has been opened for write access and thus cannot be updated might be far simpler and helpful.
Sorry for the length of the review. This is the best add-on for users in my situation. The problem really rests in the Thunderbird development community, but this app 's developer might possibly be able to help users effected by Thunderbird's blindness a bit more.

As csmhu wrote, there is this odd extra window opened if, while IMAP, upload and download on start/exit are turned on. I had to turn them off, and manually do the upload & download.
The window is present on Win 8.1 and 10, both x64.
Three stars only, because now I could manually copy the addressbook to the IMAP folder, with no need of any add-on. I would give five gladly, if it was a flawless real sync of each record.
Console returns no errors.

Works very well since version 3.8 (there was an issue before with IMAP folder sync, but was kindly fixed by the developer). Only one minor downside of the new versions after TB68: the "do not close" window is a bit annoying (e.g. when clicking on a new mail notification, the mail does not open up because of it).
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.4).For most people, this works. Please take a look into the error console ('Tools'->Developer Tools') and check for messages related to the add-on. Send me the result via e-mail!
I forgot: "Illegal imap folder defined" means that you deleted or renamed the folder which you have selected as the up-/download folder. Just select a new IMAP folder in the settings!

Thank you for the excellent add-on. With TB 78, there is a new problem in the add-on, it seems: The buttons in the configuration pages (e.g. add Path to address books, manual synchronization etc.) click but their fields are not editable. Can you please advise how to fix this? Thank you.
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.4).Sorry, but i don't understand you. Which fields exactly do you expect to be editable? Please contact me by email, probably with a screenshot and more explanations.

Why i can't syncronize adress book on local path with .mab extension, it throws an error and it looks like that syncronizer search only for .sqlite extension???
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.3).Version 2.x of the add-on runs up to TB 68 and uses .mab files. Version 3.x of the add-on runs on TB 78 and later and uses .sqlite files. If you upgrade from TB68 to TB78 all addressbooks are converted from .mab to .sqlite automatically. But you have to use the addon and upload to local/remote/imap the new .sqlite files manually once!

Why in Thunderbird 78.2.2 is not available FTP connection ?
Can you please add that option or fix it ?
Probably the new input field is somewhat missleading. ftp/http/https are available. Just enter an address like 'ftp://host.domain.cc/path/to/folder' or 'https://host.domain.cc/path/to/folder'.

Funktioniert (fast) wunderbar.

Schade...
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.0.1).Irgendwie scheint das Wort 'Übersprungen' viele Benutzer zu irritieren.

Fixed in Version 1.2.4
