Google UK

Puntuado con 5 de 5 estrellas

If you don't want the results to be restricted strictly to UK sources (which would exclude Wikipedia, for example):

1. Edit the "google-uk.xml" file - again, WordPad is your friend;
2. Find the line near the end that starts '<os:Url type="text/html"';
3. In the quoted URL, remove '&meta=cr%3DcountryUK|countryGB'

This will make the search include global results, but delivered from the google.co.uk domain, so that UK results are prioritised.

Unlike the reviewer who contributed that review, I've taken a look at the "google-uk.xml" file that's the sole component of the search plugin.

There is nothing abnormal, broken or subverted about the URL construction that's used to create the search query. It does what it says on the tin: invokes the UK version of Google Search and of search auto-completions.

If you want to confirm this for yourself, on Windows, look at %USER%\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\%PROFILENAME%\searchplugins\google-uk.xml - for whichever value of %PROFILENAME% your profile uses. Use WordPad rather than NotePad, so that line breaks show properly.

Note that %USER%\AppData is a hidden directory, so you may need to enable "Show hidden files and folders" in your Explorer folder options - tap ALT to expose menu options, then Tools / Folder Options.

The plugin works fine for me.
