Is there any update planned for TB10 and over?

Of course it's needed! What a silly question.
Thunderbird in my opinion, is over rated. Defaulting to saving documents is absurd and I can't think of any other client that would do this. Thank you very much therefore, for this essential addon.

> Is Gnome Open still needed?
Yes it is! I'm using it with Thunderbird 3.1. Default behavior is broken. Recently I've upgraded from OpenOffice to LibreOffice and since then can't open any document, because Thunderbird is still trying to open with OpenOffice programs. With Gnome Open everything is fine. Thanks for great add-on!

Just installed this on my parent's computer running Debian Squeeze. Can't believe I needed to do this just to open attachments without saving first. Thanks!!!

The add-on works great! Using Ubuntu 10.10 with Thunderbird 3.1.7, the add-on is still needed in order for Thunderbird to use my default program settings to open files (in particular, files that open with programs installed with WINE). Thanks!

Very nice extension! Works flawlessly with Thunderbird 3.1.7 in Ubuntu Lucid Lynx. For a version compatible with TB 3.1.7 go to https://launchpad.net/openx and download gnome_open-0.9-tb_3.1.xpi

Looks like this project has moved to Launchpad and has changed it's name to "Open X": https://launchpad.net/openx -- still no 3.1 version, but looks like it should be coming soon.

Very good extension, I don't have to save a joined file before open it. But for the moment I can no more use it: I'm using Thunderbird 3.1 and this extension is not compatible with.

The add-on which shouldn't have had to be added. I was about to give up on Thunderbird. Successive version updates left me with the "no helper application" message. Good work and thanks!

Bravo !

No more "Associated helper application does not exist" when I open an attached document!
This extension fixes this annoying problem I had with Thunderbird (TB 3.6.6/Ubuntu 10.04) for months. The only solution I had then was to save the attachments before opening them. No more!

Brilliant! Opened my .docx files. It cleverly recognized Crossover ans started MS Word 7. This has been a real pain for me in the past. Thank you to the developers.

Better than struggling with .rdf-Files. :-) Thank you!

Very good integrated, easy to use, nice work. Thank you for this.
I also use it as a great workaround for the "content type" bug.
