gContactSync 3.1.7 Requires Restart
by Josh Geenen
Synchronizes contacts & groups between Thunderbird and Google Contacts.
About this Add-on
Synchronizes contacts between Thunderbird and one or more Google accounts. It can synchronize the My Contacts group, all contacts, or all contacts and groups (with mailing lists).
Please read the FAQs before posting a review: http://www.pirules.org/addons/gcontactsync/faq.php. You must enable cookies and allow JavaScript from google.com in Thunderbird, not your web browser. Questions and requests for help should be posted in the forum instead of a review.
*Important*
NOTE: Mailing lists are buggy, but gContactSync tries to work around these bugs whenever possible. By default 3.0.0 and later skip contacts without email addresses. If you change this the fake e-mail addresses nobody...@nowhere.invalid are necessary to prevent bugs in mailing lists and are only stored in Thunderbird (they'll never make it to Google). It is best to drag contacts into the main address book and add them to groups from Google's interface.
Please read the Developer Comments as well.

That's the add-on I still miss in newer TB. It was great in previous TB versions, it's a pity there isn't compatibility / new version for TB 100+.
But I give five stars for thanking the past use, and maybe to stimulate a new version... :)

I'm using TB 68.12.1 and gContactSync 3.1.6 still keeps getting google authorization error 400 "You can't sign in to this app because it doesn't comply with Google's OAuth 2.0 policy for keeping apps secure"
This used to happen already years ago ...
I don't see any improvement in this respect with the latest version ...

Having success with the CardDAV protocol instead of any add-ons - does this work for everyone? Add a new address book using CardDAV protocol, then use your gmail username and this url:
