MAILmarker 2.7.0
by takeP
Highlight any part of an email with color markers and attach a memo to each marker. Choose from several colors, search your markers and memos, and export them.
About this Add-on
With this add-on, you can color-code the text of an email body with markers.
Just like highlighting a paper document, you can add a memo such as "to do by (date)" to the email body and manage it visually.
Markers and memos can be listed and searched in this add-on's own dashboard.
[Main features]
• Highlight any part of an email body with a marker (6 colors)
• Add a memo to each marker (up to 1,000 characters)
• Add markers from the right-click menu or with a one-touch button. The range of an existing marker can be changed later.
• Add markers with hotkeys (Ctrl + number). Off by default; enable it in the settings.
• Dashboard that lists all markers and their memos (search with multiple words using AND / OR, filter by marker color, sort by date and time)
• Backup function that saves markers and memos to a file so you can restore them (password protection is also supported; useful when moving to a new PC or reinstalling the add-on)
• Export marker data in CSV format (when you want to keep your memos at hand)
[About data storage]
• Markers and memos are stored only in the Thunderbird folder on your own PC (browser.storage.local). They do not affect the emails of the sender or anyone else. Even if you send an email that has markers or memos, the recipient cannot see them at all.
• No cloud sync. Local storage only. No network communication is made at all.
• Markers remain even if you move an email to another folder or to the trash. (Even if the email itself is deleted from the trash, its markers remain, but the dashboard shows that the email no longer exists.)
[Notes on use]
• If you remove this add-on, your memos and markers are lost. We recommend saving a backup file with "Save backup" on the settings screen beforehand. You can restore everything from that file.
[About permissions]
• This add-on has no code that communicates over the Internet, so it does not send your emails or memos anywhere, and it does not collect them. It does not request any special internal access either.
• The permissions that Thunderbird shows when you install this add-on are needed to display and save markers and to provide the right-click menu. They are never used to send the contents of your emails outside.
