The developer of this widget, Mr Todd Long, is either not capable of solving his created quirks with this version 0.6/0.6.1 of the GMail Manager, or is simply disinterested in solving these issues.

Which is why I sincerely applaud Ms Irene Phan's attempts to get users to use version 0.5.7.5b, which worked absolutely fine till this latest version 0.6 was announced. I also agree that if the earlier version 0.5.7.5 was worth 5-stars, this version 0.6 or 0.6.1 would just barely score 2-stars.

One ESSENTIAL quirk which needed fixing over the last year or so is the ability of version 0.6 to accept ALL characters in the password field. For reasons best known only to the developer, he has disabled some non-alphanumeric characters from being entered in this version 0.6 — even though Gmail/Google Accounts allow them — including, as many people have commented, the 'space' character.

I'm a confirmed version 0.5.7.5 user, and need to re-install it every time the auto-update feature of Firefox accidentally updates this extension. Unfortunately, this version 0.5.7.5 has suddenly stopped "reporting" new messages since last week ... either due to a Firefox update or because of any updates of other installed extensions.

It's a pity why all characters are not accepted in the password entry field, and why all characters are not displayed in the logged on state in this new version.

My rating of 5-stars is for the OLD 0.5.7.5 version only.

GMM is still not working for any of the fifteen GMail accounts I monitor, so I only hope that FrasierCrane's post indicates that they have started rectifying their mail servers in turn and would shortly fix this issue.

I'm also a bit surprised that Todd Long has been completely silent on this issue. He would, at least, know exactly what is causing this and whether the fix is on his side or Gmail's.

And no, it has NOTHING whatsoever to do with OpenDNS settings ... irrespective of what Jade J'adore and MarcoSarto have posted. IF (and that's a BIG if), GMM has worked after changing your DNS settings to OpenDNS, then it must only be a coincidence of "their" server getting fixed as FrasierCrane's was.
