My Reviews
HabuL
Rated 5 out of 5 stars
I have contributed and use this software extensively. It has been great so far and I am sure that as soon as it is updated for the ever rapidly changing Thunderbird (currently at v24) that it will work just as well again.
Problem: If you have more than one junk message selected Habul will contact your e-mail server but then it won't send the e-mails. Instead, it just times out. I run an e-mail server and I just finished tracking down this problem. Unfortunately - I don't work on the code. :-/ But I did watch it as it contacted my server, and then just sat there. I tried the fix (ie: v1.10) but that did not help.
Lightning
Rated 1 out of 5 stars
Under Windows System 7. Lightning updated itself to the beta version and hung Thunderbird 2. So I read the part about about it only being usable by Thunderbird 3. So I upgraded TB - it hung. I uninstalled everything just in case there was something hanging around, deleted the TB folder, reinstalled TB and then L - it hung. Only after deleting every reference to L from my system would TB come up and run. So I went back to L 0.9 and TB 2. TB 2 works, but L0.9 says "Sorry, the database has been updated to a later version." and it won't run. I like L 0.9, but 1.0b is truly a B version. Use with caution!

Ok. I have to revise my rating. GMailUI DOES create the folder and move the e-mails over to that folder if it does not exist. It DOES NOT tell you it did this and the new folder does not appear until after you get out of ThunderBird and back in to it. So I've raised my rating from three stars (previous message which I can not edit/get rid of) to four stars. So this is just an update for all of you out there reading this. :-)

Although I really like this program I am now going to have to give it only three of five stars. Here's why:
1. If you do not set up the archive folder - this program just deletes the messages! (Learned that the hard way.) It should first check to see if the archive folder exists and if not - it should create it or say something to the user.
2. I was under the impression that the program actually "archived" (as in Zip/Tar/Gzip) the file. Or to put that another way - I'm already managing my messages but I wanted a quick & easy way to remove the messages to a separate file/folder so the overall number of messages in Thunderbird was reduced (thus making it faster). All the archive option does is to move things to another folder for you. Which, granted, is nice - but drag'n drop does that as well.
Because of my own, personal, misconception on how the archive feature worked - I've lost 1,500 e-mails and will have to retrieve them from backups.
The other features work very well though and if there was a way to rate each, individual, option - I'd give this program a higher rating.

Like: It does what it says it will do.
Dislike: If the message is ok there doesn't seem to be any kind of indication of this. Suggestion: Make the text line turn green and read (Message ok) or somthing like that.
Dislike: In some instances the module seems to take a long time to determine good/bad. Other times it is extremely fast. Almost immediate. Maybe some kind of message like "Checking...## seconds" could be included? Just a thought.
Overall: A very nice module overall. Thank you very much for creating it! :-)
NEW: I felt I had to add more to my review. :-)
Since you are already checking the headers and such, might you not also check one more thing:
Scan the message's body and look for things like Y ??? Spammers use that a lot so the text shows as, say, "http://www.msn.com" but the actual href line is "http://www.im.a.spammer.com". You could then say something like "This looks as if it might be a spammer's message. Link does not match HREF." If you do include this into your app, I would not go beyond the site id as that is what you are really looking to identify. :-)
Hi Editor! I can't change the "Y ???" above to <a href="X">Y</a>. That's why I flagged it. - Markem
