Better Send Delay 1.0.11
by soweaver
Hold mail for a set number of minutes after you press Send. Provides simple controls to send individual queued messages immediately, or cancel the pending send request.
About this Add-on
Send now delivers that message before the timer ends. Cancel leaves the message in Drafts and drops the scheduled send. A canceled message does not send on a later restart.
Open the add-on options, or choose Delay settings in the toolbar popup, to set the delay in whole minutes. The new value applies the next time you press Send. Messages already waiting keep the time they were given. A delay of 0 turns the hold off, and Send delivers immediately.
Thunderbird must be running when the timer ends. If it was quit, a due message sends the next time Thunderbird starts. If Thunderbird is offline, the message follows the usual outbox behavior.
With a delay of 1 minute or more, pressing Send saves the message to Drafts and closes the compose window. Nothing is sent yet. When the delay ends, Thunderbird opens that draft and runs its normal Send. The message that goes out is the one you wrote. Pictures, reply grouping, encryption, and signing stay with Thunderbird’s own send.
If a check needs a response, that window stays open. Another window is not opened. The message stays in Drafts until that send finishes. Send now starts that send before the timer ends. Spell checking while you type still runs as you write. A delay of 0 uses normal Send. The same notes are in the add-on options.
Requires Thunderbird 153 or newer.
Better Send Delay stores the delay, the waiting message’s subject and recipients, and related queue data in local extension storage on your computer. It saves the draft you wrote and later asks Thunderbird to send that draft. It does not send that data to a server. Details are in the privacy policy.
