Remove attachments from many messages at once, keep your mail and free up space. Embedded images and signature logos stay safe. Preview before deleting, filters by size, date and file type.

Your mailbox is full, but you want to keep your old emails? Attachment Remover deletes the attachments from as many messages as you like – and leaves the messages themselves intact. Unlike a blunt bulk delete, it checks the structure of every message first and only removes what is clearly a regular file attachment. Images in the message body and signature logos stay where they are.
WHERE TO FIND IT
• Message list: select one or more messages → right-click → "Remove attachments …"
• Folder pane: right-click a folder → "Remove attachments in this folder …"
• Message list: right-click a single message → "Attachment diagnosis (read-only)" shows how each part of that message is classified – nothing is changed.
HOW TO USE IT
1. Select messages or a folder and open "Remove attachments …" from the context menu.
2. The add-on checks the messages (read-only) and shows a preview: every part that would be deleted, with type and size, plus how much space will be freed.
3. Adjust the filters if needed: minimum size, only messages before a date, file types to keep (e.g. pdf, docx).
4. Expand "Show protected parts and skipped messages" to see what stays untouched and why.
5. Tick the confirmation box and click "Delete permanently". Only the parts shown are removed.
6. Afterwards, right-click the folder → "Compact" to actually free the space.
SAFE BY DEFAULT
• Only parts clearly marked as attachments are removed
• Embedded images, signature logos and ambiguous parts stay protected – include them deliberately via "Also remove embedded and ambiguous content"
• Attached emails (.eml) stay protected – include them via "Also remove attached emails (.eml)"
• Signed and encrypted messages are skipped
• Every message is re-checked right before deleting; if it changed since the preview, it is left untouched
GOOD TO KNOW
• Deleted attachments cannot be restored. Back up important data first.
• With IMAP accounts, attachments are also removed on the server.
• No external services, no network access, no data collection. English and German interface.
