I was skeptical, but it worked brilliantly. I had to go into the options and set a minimum of variables before it worked for me, but after that it was superb -- very fast and thorough in all stages. Worked great with Gmail IMAP. Allowed me to delete the larger message, an option which the supposedly rewritten "alternate" version doesn't offer.

I tried this, but decided to use the original for the actual deleting, because it allows me to delete the larger duplicate, and this one doesn't. Also, most of the features the author of this addon says are missing from the original are not actually missing, except for maybe the license and the toolbar button menu, neither of which I care about nor looked at on either extension.

Good, but omits this Gmail-recommended setting:

1. In the 'Tools' menu, open Options.
2. On the 'Advanced' tab, open the General section.
3. Click the Config Editor button.
4. Type 'mail.server.default.fetch_by_chunks'
5. Double-click on the mail.server.default.fetch_by_chunks entry to set its value to false.
6. Close the 'about:config' window and then close 'Options' by clicking OK.

This prevents a problem with attachments being truncated.

This abandoned extension is unnecessary with Adblock Plus and indeed slows down browsing, according to the creator of the ABP extension. ABP automatically downloads and updates its own filters.
