Bonjour Philippe,
I understand that TB versions are coming out a lot faster lately, which I don't think is the right thing to do, particularly when changes in versions of TB breaks CardBook.
I have been using CardBook since 2019 and cannot operate without it. But unfortunately the autocomplete is broken with TB 157 and worse in 158.
Can you address the required changes to make CardBook work again?
I wish CardBook were fully integrated into TB (like Lightning became the de facto TB calendar years ago). Then we wouldn't have those upgrade problems.

Finger vorerst weg. Man vergeudet sinnlos Zeit.
Leider auch mit Funktionen und Einstellmöglichkeiten komplett überfrachtet und die angegebenen Funktionen gehen nicht. Vor allen Dingen kann man weder vorhandene Adressbücher dirket aus Thunderbird importieren, noch findet man eine Möglichkeit vcard Adressbücher zu importieren. Da ist noch viel Entwicklungsarbeit nötig und bis dahin ist das Adressbuch von Thunderbird mit seinen Funktionen deutlich besser. Ich halte dem Entwickler die Daumen, dass er das AddOn zu so weit bringt, dass auch Spenden fließen, weil bereits nutzbar.

Sorry, nichts für mich. Ich habe das Add-on installiert, weil ich gelesen habe, dass es angeblich die Geburtstage in einen Kalender übernimmt. Soweit bin ich nicht gekommen. Nach der Installation kannte Thunderbird keine Email-Adressen von bestehenden Kontakten mehr. Wenn ich das richtig interpretiere, importiert das Add-on weder bestehende Adressbücher noch bestehende Kalender. Sprich ich müsste alles neu machen. Sorry, dafür habe ich keine Zeit. Wenn CardBook wirklich besser ist, als das was Thunderbird standardmäßig mitbringt, sollte es direkt in Thunderbird eingebaut werden. Für Spielereien fehlt mir die Zeit und die Geduld ...

Excellent when it works. Currently it does not work with Thunderbirds latest version 157.

Works well when it works, but new releases of Thunderbird break the add-on, which is a problem for users who have incorporated CardBook into their contact management.

Thunderbird has since switched to a two-week release cycle. However, for months we have observed that Cardbook consistently lags behind with every new version; every Thunderbird update breaks Cardbook. I don't know how the backend programming works, but my other extensions continue to function without issues. Since I have no other choice when it comes to address book quality, I am now wondering what to do.

Thunderbird 157 was released today and, for the third time this year, CardBook is not compatible with the update. Thunderbird releases are coming faster, every couple of weeks now. What does it take for CardBook to stay compatible? Do all Thunderbird releases require programming modifications in CardBook? Is there a solution for this problem, do I have to avoid Thunderbird updates, or is it time to give up on CardBook?

Je découvre avec stupeur que Cardbook est devenu incompatible avec Thunderbird 155.0. C'est inacceptable de mettre les utilisateurs devant le fait accompli. Tous mes contacts sont sur Cardbook. Comment je fais !!
Je ne sais pas comment revenir en arrière pour installer une version plus ancienne de Thunderbird. Quelle est la solution ???

Love Cardbook sooo much. But it's not compatible with V155. And you don't find out until the automatic upgrade occurs and it just gets disabled and you can't send emails...sigh... How I got around it:
Menu ≡ → Settings [Scroll to Updates] Set to “Check for updates but let me choose whether to install them”.
Go to troubleshooting info, open your profile folder.
Shut down TBird.
Backup your profile folder (safety first),
Download 153 ESR from https://archive.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/releases/
Install it.
In your profile directory, look for any file called compatibility.ini. rename it to compatibility_old.ini. Restart TBird.

I've been using Cardbook for many years and it is brilliant. I didn't realise how dependent I am on it until Thunderbird was just automatically updated to V155 and Cardbook became disabled. It seems that Cardbook will need a modification to restore compatibility. Is that likely to happen soon?
Your suggested of using Thunderbird 153 ESR instead would require me to create a new profile, which will be a major task since I monitor 6 email addresses and make extensive use of message filters, all of which would have to be re-created.
