Web Translate Toggle for Thunderbird translates the message you currently have open, right inside the reading pane, and lets you toggle instantly back to the original text.
Features
- One click (toolbar button or right-click menu) translates the whole visible message
- Click again to instantly restore the original text — nothing is changed in your mailbox, only the on-screen view
- Works with any source language and script (Latin, Cyrillic, Arabic, Chinese, and more)
- Choose your target language in Settings (20 common languages, or enter any custom Google Translate language code)

- No account, no API key, no setup
Important: like every client-side tool, this only works while Thunderbird is running and connected to the internet. Translation is performed by Google's public web-translation endpoint (translate.googleapis.com) — the visible text of the open message is sent there over HTTPS to be translated. No data is stored or transmitted by the add-on itself beyond that.
Privacy
The add-on itself collects and stores nothing. The only network traffic is the translation request sent to Google Translate for the message you choose to translate. All settings (your target language) are stored locally.
