If you are using Linux use vi or vim to edit the files without extracting the files with 7-zip.

How to
Edit the file using vim and edit the install.rdf file. Navigate to the firefox section and change maxversion to 48.

Save the changes and install. The only problem is that you cannot see the sync section under preferences.
