Duplicate Contact Manager
Yettwasezmel 3 ɣef 5 n yetran
Using gContactSync, I synchronise my contacts with Google. This does not identify duplicates automatically, but it does make it easy from Google contacts to merge two partial records for the same contact (e.g. the e-mail is in a record, and the phone number and mail address in another).
Since I switched to TB3, I had to abandon Duplicate Contact Manager...

Any other module I tried eventually corrupted data on one side or the other.
This is the first acceptable solution I found to synchronise Thunderbird and Google (and, hence, my iPhone) in a reliable way.
The next release taking advantage of Google contacts improvements sounds promising.
Contacts Sidebar
Yettwasezmel 4 ɣef 5 n yetran
I like it, and believe it should be a standard feature.
However, one must take care that the selected contact can be deleted with : it happened to me several times to attempt to delete a *message*, and to accidentally delete an selected contact instead!
-> There should be an option to inhibit deletion (or to require confirmation before deletion) from the sidebar.
