it doesn't work anymore, neither automatically, nor by clicking on the "resize this image" button in the contextual menu. Nothing happens in 9 cases out of 10.

This add-on did an excellent job, thank you for the time you spent to develop it. I perfectly understand your point. I fully understand your discouragement. I too am fed up with these permanent changes that make tools that work well dysfunctional without the consent of users and volunteer developers.
