Does exactly what's stated, but since the trashcan extension stops working for me also this extension is unfortunately really useless ...

And about archive and trashcan addon (see below) - it can not save events from recurring event...

Lightning is a valuable add-on to the Thunderbird application. I am using it for more than a year. There is however no easy way to delete or archive old events. This add-on "Purge Events Plus" by "Mark" does what it says: It purges old events rather than archive them. Am I the only user who values history?

I don't really see a sense in archiving old events but if you want it, try trashcan add-on. also works with purge events.

Well, this add-on needs some more positive ratings! It is easy to configure, variable because you can configure it for each calender file separately, and the current version DOES purge automatically.
And the add-on is being maintained, so future versions will have more features!
I recommend it for every lightning user.

i find this very useful, though it did not delete any recurring events on my remote google calendar, but it did a great job cleaning that up...
i give a full of 5 stars to help this useful plugin to a better rating
yea, recurring events are ignored at that time (some will be handeled in 0.1.5; update being reviewed). The original plugin did delete them as well, but also all followups (which were in the future).

A must-have for everyone who wants to keep its calendar(s) clean. Particularly necessary when sharing calendars with friends/collegues (not to keep traces of the past for newcomers).
To me, it lacks an automatic function to clean periodically (not only manually). In that way, each calendar must have its own "older than" option. By the way, the "older than" field could become manually customizable (not from a pre-determined list).

This didn't delete a single event. I tried it several times.
