Thunderbird without Conversations installed just misses something. If you are used to conversations view, for instance from Gmail, then you have to have this extension.
The quality of the extension is great and the responsiveness of the developer, too.

This extension shows an odd problem in the traditional UI design of Thunderbird: Namely, that it could be vastly improved.
Thunderbird Conversations has good selection of typical tweaks (displaying attachments, youtube embeds inline, hiding quoted email garbage) and packs the conversation window with exactly what is necessary without compromising screen space.
It almost integrates well with EnigMail, with the exception of the inline composition view -- and that's my only wish atm: Make a setting to disable the inline reply compose view.

Thunderbird conversation view with all this add-ons revived my hope to get to 0 unread emails and keep it that way.

OfficeからThunderbirdに乗り換えたときに、Gmailっぽくしたいなーと思って使用しました。
スレッドが多くなると、動作が遅くなるのが残念ですが、
細かい設定も行えるため、そこで回避できるのかもしれません！

Works just well enough to make me really wish it worked better. Aside from frequently including items that have no relationship to the thread, it also prevents proper functioning of many default functions of Thunderbird (well beyond those listed in the FAQ) including many common, keyboard shortcuts among other functions. Also interferes with many other addons until/unless those addons are rewritten to work with this one. But for some reason I can't bring myself to uninstall it yet, because I keep wishing...

Disabled the addon after 02/25/2014 as I was not able to see the email content.. the body of email and what I know next is all email from inbox are gone.. enabled it still no emails.. not sure how to get those email back that are in inbox..

I will probably use this add on for a while, until I find something that does what I want better. It does thread conversations in a convenient manner, but I need better access to email headers (specifically I need to be able to copy the senders address so I can look him up in a separate datbase) Easy with the classic reader (which I can select) but fiddly and time consunimg with this view or to select classic each time.

nettes Add On, das die Übersicht in Konversationen mit mehreren oder vielen Emails und Empfängern ermöglichen könnte. Leider wird dabei jedoch im Eingangsordner immer die älteste und als bereits gelesene Email angezeigt, und erst im pop up und scroll down dann an aller letzter Position die neueste ungelesene Email. Das macht die Sache dann doch eher unübersichtlich! Ich habe den Entwickler gebeten, die Standardeinstellung zu ändern, so daß auch im Conversations view die neuesten Emails oben stehen, oder einen Switch zu programmieren, so daß jeder User nach Belieben eine aufsteigende oder absteigende Reihenfolge einstellen kann.

Un addons vraiment pratique, le design est vraiment sympa!
Seul point négatif pour moi, il n'est pas compatible avec l'addons "signature switch" lors des "réponse rapide".
Sinon j'apprécie vraiment beaucoup cet addons qui renouvelle mon interface Thunderbird!

I can't find attachments when using the add-on. Otherwise, I like it.

[Update 12/24/13: Ok, I jumped the gun. The add-on collapses the previous messages and expands to the current one. So, I'm giving it 5 stars, but it would be *nice* to have the option to put the most recent messages in a conversation on top.]
I did read the FAQ, and I understand that programming can be complex, but come on man, the most recent message in a conversation should be on top; you shouldn't have to scroll down to the bottom every time. The add-on is great and should get 5 stars, but this is a huge lacking feature.

MAJOR ISSUES
- started writing a reply with add-ons inline function... saved to work on something else...
- returned and completed the reply and sent...
- that's when I noticed that the add-on had CHANGED MY "SEND-FROM" EMAIL ADDRESS....
- In this case that happened to be a real issue.
- Deactivated and haven't used since

Génial.c'est exactement ce dont j'ai besoin.Par contre chez moi le nom des dossiers boite restent en anglais (inbox, sent, draft ...).Si cétait possible d'ajouter un quick filtre pour grouper les messages d'un même auteur ce serait parfait !

This add-on is a real improvement, but imho one feature is still missing: I would like to display the latest message always first. This is especially important if you set "Expand by default" to "All messages", the user is forced to scroll down to the latest message, which can become very annoying if a block contains many messages with reply citations etc.

Very nice work, but i miss the icon of digital signature. Unfortunately therefore i can not use this add-on because i do not want always switch to original header in message. Maybe sometime in the future.
