BetterUnsubscribe enhances your email experience by simplifying the unsubscribe process. This extension adds a convenient button to your navigation bar, appearing whenever an unsubscribe option is detected in an email.

BetterUnsubscribe uses multiple methods to handle unsubscription, depending on the available options in the email:
Permissions
When installing BetterUnsubscribe, Thunderbird will ask you to grant the following permissions. Here is why each one is needed:
Host Permissions
BetterUnsubscribe also requires access to external URLs in order to send one-click unsubscribe requests. Thunderbird will display these as "Access your data for all websites".
Warning
Please be cautious when opening web links provided in emails. Phishing attempts are common, and opening malicious links can compromise your personal information and security. Always verify the legitimacy of the email sender before clicking on any links.

BetterUnsubscribe uses multiple methods to handle unsubscription, depending on the available options in the email:
- One-Click Unsubscribe: If
List-Unsubscribe=One-Clickis found in the email header, a POST request is sent to unsubscribe. - Unsubscribe via Email: If a
List-Unsubscribeemail address (mailto://) is present in the header, an email draft is prepared for you to send. - Unsubscribe via Web: If a
List-Unsubscribeweb address (https://) is in the header, the site is opened in your browser. - Unsubscribe Link in Content: If an unsubscribe link (
https://) is found within the email content, the site is opened in your browser.

accountsRead: Lists accounts, folders, and identities to match the correct sending identity when unsubscribing via email, and to search messages across all inboxes when deleting by domain.messagesRead: Reads message headers and body content to detect and extract unsubscribe links and methods.messagesDelete: Deletes messages when the user chooses to delete one or all messages from a sender or domain.compose: Opens a compose window when unsubscribing via amailto:link.compose.send: Sends the unsubscribe email automatically when unsubscribing via amailto:link.

https://*/*: Makes POST requests to arbitrary unsubscribe URLs for one-click unsubscribe (RFC 8058).http://*/*: As above, for the rare case where an unsubscribe URL uses plain HTTP rather than HTTPS.
