NOTE: At this time it is not possible to update this to work as a WebExtension (Firefox 57+)
This little add-ons provides a toolbar button and a menu item in the tools menu (can be hidden) that can be used for clearing memory that Firefox is using but does not need. It is the same as running "Minimize memory usage" in about:memory.
Also the drop down menu lets you access two other types of memory clearance, Cycle Collection and Garbage Collection. The Minimize memory usage action will also take care of what they do, plus more.
There is also a menu item to open about:memory, and another that shows how much memory Firefox is currently using so you can see what difference running the memory clearance functions have. It value is the same as the first value given if you run Measure in about:memory - except it does not use up all the memory that running that does!
The extension is part of the Toolbar Buttons project and is built with the MozButton SDK. Follow us on Twitter, or get involved on GitHub.
